Gospel of Life “When a mother receives the news that her unborn child may be born with a disability, she should be supplied with current and reliable information about the many options available for caring for children with disabilities… We as a society must offer as much protection as we can to the ‘least of these.’” (Senator Sam Brownback, NRL, News, 9/07)

Prayer of Thanksgiving 2637 Thanksgiving characterizes the prayer of the Church which, in celebrating the Eucharist, reveals and becomes more fully what she is. Indeed, in the work of salvation, Christ

Prayer in Time of Need for Economic Development

O Lord, there is plenty to cause us concern about the economic circumstances of our community. Jobs are scarce, the population is decreasing and aging, and perhaps worst of all we are afflicted with a spirit of uncertainty and discourage-ment.

Yet, we are your people, and your love for us is un-wavering and bountiful. So, we ask you to grant us a posi-tive spirit, even a sense of joy. We ask you to grant us a generous spirit, that we might use our gifts courageously and be concerned about one another. We ask you to grant us a spirit of wisdom, as we seek ways to develop the local econ-omy.

Most especially, heavenly Father, we ask you to deepen our faith: to trust in you, to believe that the salvation of Christ is always active among us, and to recognize the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit. Gracious God, comfort and encourage us as we continue our pilgrimage to eternal life. We pray through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

by Faith in the Future

sets creation free from sin and death to consecrate it anew and make it re-turn to the Father, for his glory. The thanks-giving of the members of the Body participates in that of their Head.

2638 As in the prayer of petition, every event and need can become an offering of thanksgiving. The letters of St. Paul often begin and end with thanksgiving, and the Lord Jesus is always present in it: "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you"; "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving."

2745 Prayer and Christian life are inseparable, for they concern the same love and the same renunciation, proceeding from love; the same filial and loving conformity with the Fa-ther's plan of love; the same transforming union in the Holy Spirit who conforms us more and more to Christ Jesus; the same love for all men, the love with which Jesus has loved us. "Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he [will] give it to you. This I command you, to love one another."

“He "prays without ceasing" who unites prayer to works and good works to prayer. Only in this way can we con-sider as realizable the princi-ple of praying without ceas-ing.” Origen

Mass Intentions Advent-Christmas Choir Vocalists and instrumentalists alike are invited to join the choir for Christmas and Advent for the holidays. Please see Attilio. Share your gift with us!

Giving Tree Once again this year we will be doing our Christmas Giving Tree. We are getting started a little late because of the tumult of the office transition, but below you will find our timeframe:

This weekend there are instructions in the back of church for any parishioner who would like to recommend someone as a recipient of the Giving Tree. Pick up one of those letters if you like, but it must be returned by Monday, November 26th.

The Giving Tree will go up on the back of church next weekend. If you would like to give a gift, simply take a tag off the tree. The spending limit is $20.

All gifts must be placed in the back of church or brought to the parish offices by Sunday, Decem-ber 16th.

Most of our recipients are in one

of the nursing homes in the area. Believe it or not, our Giving Tree gifts are the only gifts some of them get at Christmas. Regardless, they are always thrilled when Holy Rosary’s Santa comes to visit.

Prayer Line Please keep the following in your prayers: Evie ann Frazier, Jim Langlois, Mary Canestraro and Cindy Fadley.

Portable Defibrillator Holy Rosary Church has been the recipient of a portable defi-brillator. It is mounted on the wall in the main sacristy (the one behind the sanctuary). Our physicians, nurses, EMTs, etc. need to be aware of its availability if needed.

HRCS News Our School Spelling Bee will be held on Monday, No-vember 26 at 12:30. Good luck to all of our participants.

School will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The students, faculty, and staff of Holy Rosary Cen-tral would like to extend their wishes for a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to all of our parish families.

Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Reader One: Brothers and sisters, listen to the words of the Acts of the Apostles:

Reader One: God fills your spirits with food and delight. Paul shouted to the crowd: "We proclaim to you good news that you should turn from these idols to the living God, 'who made heaven and earth and sea and all that is in them.' In past generations he allowed all Gentiles to go their own ways; yet, in bestowing his goodness, he did not leave himself without witness, for he gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, and filled you with nourishment and glad-ness for your hearts."

Intercessions

Leader: As we pray in gratitude for God's blessing upon the work of our hands, let us not forget that we must do the works of holiness in our lives. Let us, then, pray to God, saying: Lord, hear our prayer. Reader Two: All-provident God, your care has given us food from the earth; grant that these crops we have har-vested in the sweat of our brow may sustain us in body and help us to grow in spirit. We pray to the Lord...

Through Jesus Christ you have made the world abound in the

works of holiness; grant that, living in him, we may share in his fullness of life and bear much fruit. We pray to the Lord...

In the Eucharist you have taken up the fruits of our hands as signs of the mystery of faith; grant that the gifts we bring to be consecrated at your Son's table may work for the con-tinuing good of the Church's life. We pray to the Lord...

You planned that all your children should share in the goods you have pro-vided; grant that all those who are in need may come to enjoy an untroubled life and to glorify you and together praise your name. Leader: God our Creator, who never cease to bestow your boun-teous fruits from the rains of the heavens and the riches of the soil, we thank your loving majesty for this year's harvest. Through these blessings of your generosity

you have fulfilled the hopes of your children. Grant that together they may praise your mercy without end and in their life amid the good things of this world strive also after the blessings of the world to come. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
