Reopening date(s)

The school setting is open to all pupils from Nursery through to Year 13. A staggered start and end time to the day is in place using both entrances and exits to school. Induction for new pupils and the Prep School on 7/9/20 ensures that all pupils understand the controls in place for their wellbeing.

Prior to re-opening / extending opening of site specific infection prevention and control measures were put in place (see below)

Prior to re-opening (either in full or re-opening currently closed areas) a deep clean of those areas was carried out.

Boarders returning from countries without an airbridge are quarantining in school for 14 days before the start of term. They are collected from the airport and have individual rooms with their own bathrooms and toilets. They are isolating in the boarding house and supported by four members of staff for the three children quarantining.

Induction for younger and new pupils to school. All pupils taken through Covid- safe measures.

See all detail below Signed up to BSA Covid Charter. Quarantining pupils and all boarding staff to follow Government guidelines on isolation and social distancing during the 14-day period.

Infection prevention and control Measures put in place to minimise the risk of infection follow this hierarchy:

o Avoid contact with anyone with symptoms

o Maintain social bubbles o Frequent hand cleaning and good

respiratory hygiene practices o Regular cleaning o Minimising contact and mixing

across bubbles for staff o Re-designation of communal areas

of school for staff

When applying these controls it is acknowledged that early years and primary children cannot be expected to remain 2m apart from staff and other children outside their bubbles.

where it is not possible for staff to remain 2 metres apart, they should work side by side, or facing away from each other, rather than face to face

where face-to-face contact is essential, this should be kept to 15 minutes or less wherever possible and take place in a well-ventilated space.

Individuals (staff, volunteers, children, etc) who have coronavirus symptoms, or who have someone in their household who does, are instructed to not attend the setting in line with Government guidelines, but to notify a member of SLT in accordance with the Absence Policy.

Clear communications setting out attendance procedures are sent to all staff, volunteers, parents and guardians / carers.

Tissues in classrooms Pedal bins in all classrooms 32 Sanitiser units are installed at key locations and at entrances and exits to buildings. Cleaning Fluid and paper towels Clear communication to all pupils, parents and staff, to ensure understanding Screens in place as necessary, 2m distancing measures, posters, and tape in place No large, communal areas for staff to gather and all meetings will be online to minimise face-to-face contact. In corridors where social distancing is not possible, for those aged 11+ is encouraged. This is reinforced by information on our website and displayed at entrances.

Individuals (staff, volunteers, children, etc) are encouraged to clean hands more frequently than usual, washing hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with running water & soap and drying them thoroughly or using hand sanitiser ensuring all parts of the hand are covered.

Information is provided, posters are displayed around school, and hygiene is covered at an appropriate level in lessons for children.

The ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ approach to good hygiene is promoted.

Frequently touched surfaces are regularly cleaned using suitable products.

Classroom layouts are adjusted to minimise contact e.g. by ensuring all desks face the front and there are gaps between them. ‘Bubbles’ have been allocated rooms for non-practical lessons and teachers will move to the classes to minimise crossover of ‘bubbles’.

Where practical timetables etc have been altered to minimise contact and mixing e.g.:

o so that children only mix in a small consistent group during the day and on subsequent days.

o so that groups use the same classroom / area during the day.

o so that the same teachers / staff are assigned to each group (allowing for subject specialist

parents on 10/8/20 and 19/8/20 Protocol for teaching staff updated and to be reissued for 7/9/20 Regular hand washing will be encouraged Posters displayed Distancing floor strips Monitored by staff and managed accordingly /regular cleaning Social bubbles for pupils established in school Segregation into groups / bubbles. rotation of staff in college and secondary schools) during the day and on subsequent days.

o by staggering breaks to limit the numbers circulating in corridors etc.

o by staggering lunch breaks manage numbers using dining rooms.

o by staggering start and collection times to minimise congestion at entrances and exits.

Where possible rooms will be accessed directly from the outside or by using the shortest practical indoor route.

Doors are propped open where it is practical and safe to do so, to minimise touching of handles.

Windows are kept open where practical to maximise ventilation.

Where practical one way circulation is in place.

Children will be instructed to clean hands before entering dining room and will remain in their groups and separate from other groups.

Separate dining tables in separated bubble areas – staggered lunchtimes for all pupils.

Lunch times will be staggered and spread across two dining rooms. Shortest route Fire doors are automated and open and where necessary, open on Doorguards Directional arrows would be placed to indicate direction of traffic flow. Clinically vulnerable children

Children classed as clinically extremely vulnerable due to pre-existing medical conditions are advised to attend school as normal unless directed otherwise by a medical practitioner

If a child needs to isolate for any reason such as a family member testing positive or contact through Test and Trace, we will continue to liaise with parents, guardians, carers, etc, to provide online learning to ensure these children do not attend the setting at this time.

The situation will be continually reviewed should medical advice change.

For early years foundation stage (EYFS) existing staff to child ratios continue to apply and these are used to group children.

In the event of isolation of staff members and a shortage of teachers, teaching assistants are allocated to lead groups under the direction of a teacher.

Desks are spaced as far apart as possible and are front facing.

If someone becomes unwell on site

If someone becomes unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they will be sent home and advised to follow the COVID 19 guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection guidance.

If a child is awaiting collection, if possible they will be moved to the Health Centre or The Croft (Covid Centre) where they can be isolated behind a closed door, and with appropriate adult supervision in PPE if required e.g. depending on the age of the child. Ideally with a window open for ventilation.

If the child can’t be isolated, then they will be moved to an area which is at least 2m away from other people.

Where possible if they need to use a cloakroom while waiting to be collected, they will use a separate bathroom which will be cleaned and disinfected before being used by anyone else.

PPE will be provided for and worn by staff caring for the child who is showing signs of Covid while they await collection if a distance of 2m cannot be maintained (see PPE above).

Emergency contact numbers are available, and parents will be updated accordingly Child will be kept in either of the two collection first aid points and accompanied by the School Nurse or appropriate adult Separate cloakroom allocated School Nurse on call in school will use PPE and then shower and change after isolating with a child.
