• Most of the album's lyrics are presumably concerned with Rihanna's relationship with Chris Brown. With a second half of lighter songs that have references to a dysfunctional love life.

• “Diamonds" premiered on September 26th 2012 and was released the following day as the lead single from Unapologetic.

• "Pour It Up" is a club song, with a minimal hip hop beat.

• "What Now", is a ‘vulnerable ballad’ containing a ‘hard chorus’. The song is a piano-led pop ballad.
