RIDING FORWARD Teacher Training School Direct Programme What better way to learn to teach than in a school? This leaflet is posted on the website www.ridingforward.net School Direct is an exciting training route for top graduates. The School Direct programme allows our partnership the opportunity to further enhance teacher training provision. We have developed exciting and eective programmes with a highly regarded local School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider, Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training. YWTT has been judged by Ofsted as outstanding in all areas. Our programmes take place within an academic year (September to June), during which time you will be based in a host school with excellent experience in ITT alongside attending in-depth professional studies sessions at the Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training base. The training is based on the campus at South Hunsley School & Sixth Form College, located in Melton, North Ferriby. School Direct places are available in well regarded Early Years and Primary schools within the East Riding. You will also enjoy a contrasting school placement in one of our good or outstanding partnership schools. Our School Direct programmes have been designed to give you the necessary skills to become an eective classroom practitioner. Our training programme leads to QTS. Alongside this, trainees work towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, which is delivered and awarded by Sheeld Hallam University. Graduates of the Riding Forward School Direct programmes will be confident, knowledgeable, creative and reflective teachers, ready to embark on a rewarding and fulfilling career, hopefully taking up positions that arise within our partnership of schools or beyond. Course fees are in line with national providers and there is the option to apply for a Tuition

Fee Loan.

What is Riding Forward? 'Riding Forward' is a partnership of schools led by the Teaching School, Molescroft Primary School, Beverley and is very much in partnership with theEast Riding Local Authority andour Core Partners. Partnership members are largely, but not exclusively, from the East Riding of Yorkshire.

We have a proven track record of effectively supporting new, talented teachers into the profession through high quality training, in partnership with the Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training.

School Direct Routes There are two School DirectRoutes to gaining a Post GraduateTeaching Qualification.• School Direct Training Programme (which Riding Forward offers)• School Direct Training Programme - Salaried (not offered)

Riding Forward specialises in offering places on the School Direct Training Programme for Early Years andPrimary candidates.

School Direct Training Programme The course begins in September with an induction, which covers all the essential information you need before the start of your placement. Following the induction, at least four days per week are spent in school with the fifth day dedicated to in-depth professional studies sessions at the Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training base.

Our aim is to ensure that all trainees are well supported throughout the programme; each trainee is assigned a dedicated mentor who is always available to provide advice and support.R

What are we looking for in a candidate?

Our Entry Requirements To be eligible for our School Direct programme, the following qualifications andexperience are required:

All candidates • Have as much relevant experience of being in a school as possible and evidence of why teaching is for them.• Demonstrate a passion for working with young people and a strong desire toteach.• A good level of spoken and written standard English.

Primary & Early Years Candidates • A degree awarded by a UK University, 2:2 or above• GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science, English and Mathematics (or equivalent)

We are looking to recruit high calibre candidates who have the values, qualities and attributes needed to become outstanding

teachers, with the drive and motivation to succeed.

If you wish to be considered for Riding Forward places you will need to select 'RidingForward TSA' as your lead schoolwhen completing the application process. This does not mean that your training will necessarily be at Molescroft Primary School. MolescroftPrimary is the National Teaching School andconsequently facilitate a School Direct programme in the East Riding of Yorkshire.For a full list of schools who will be hosting School Direct placements please visit ourwebsite:www.ridingforward.net.

APPLICATION PROCESS Apply as soon as possible.The application window opens in October for the first round ofapplications.Our programmes will remain open until the places are filled.Successful applicants will be invited individually to our interview process.
