Importance of Ridge VentilationThe longevity and integrity of a residential or commercial structure is a result of proper use of construction methods and materials. Air circulation and ventilation is crucial to preventing moisture build-up, and mold or mildew growth. Excess heat and moisture build up can create costly problems for home & building owners.

Enka® ExFlo vents provide airflow which reduces heat gain and dries out moisture in the attic space.

The openness of Enka ExFlo assures proper exhaust ventilation and achieves the appropriate NFA (Net Free Area)

needed for good air circulation.

Enka Exflo cools the attic space in warm seasons, giving energy savings and maintains constant airflow to promote drying of condensed moisture in the attic during winter months.

Product DescriptionThe Enka® ExFlo composite design is ideal for ridge ventilation applications for asphalt shingle and wood shake or shingle roofs of different pitches. The low profile configuration provides an enhanced sturdier and seamless roof line (conceals under shingles). Our product range can be also customized to meet special requirements or building codes upon special request.

Application Ridge exhaust ventilation. Use under:• Architectural Shingles• 3-Tab Roof Shingles• Wood Shakes or Shingles

Features & Benefits• Provide constant airflow which

prevent moisture, mold and mildew in the attic space

• Extend longevity and integrity of the roof

• Concealed under ridge cap shingles• Compatible with standard

shingle sizes• Versions for nail gun or hand

nail installation

Low & Bonar Enka® and Colback® technologies have led the construction industry in ventilation applications in the entire building envelope. The core and its composite design contribute to key requirements for attic ventilation applications. Each product design has a very open structure and is lightweight, which provides superior ventilation performance while preventing moisture penetration from wind-driven rain or blowing snow.

Product Installation

1. At the ridge line of the roof, chalk a parallel line 1 ½” on each side for cutting a slot in the roof sheathing 3” wide. Set the circular saw cut depth so no roof trusses or structural members are cut. The slot should stop 18” from the gable at each end.

2. The Enka ExFlo vent should be cut to end 18” from each gable end. The cap shingles should be lapped down from the top of the Enka ExFlow to the ridge line & extending to the gable end of the roof. An alternate installation is to cut the Enka Exflo to end about 1” from each gable end. In this installation

method the enclosed square of Colback fabric should be wrapped around the end of the Enka ExFlo to protect from insect & rain infiltration. Cap shingles should be nailed along the nail line printed on top of the Enka ExFlo.

3. Enka ExFlow should be centered on the slot cut in the roof sheathing so that the side with the nail lines is up. Enka ExFlo can be held in place with 2 roofing nails (included) at the starting end. Then make sure the product is pulled tight to remove any slack or humps in the Enka ExFlo then attach at the other end. Cap shingles should be

centered over the Enka ExFlo & will overhang each side. Use the nail line to guide where cap shingles are nailed. Nail gun pressure should be set at 90-100 psi. Nails should imbed a minimum of 3.4” into sheathing or penetrate through the sheathing. For the alternate installation the ridge cap shingles should overhang the fabric protected end of the Enka ExFlo by 1”.

4. For butt end splices of the Enka ExFlo with fabrics remove 3” of the 3D mat core & bottom fabric to create a top overlap flap. For Enka ExFlo with no fabric just butt ends together.ail gun or handnail installation.
