Newsletter Week 4 Term 1 2021
Principals ReportPrincipals Report
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone backfor the 2021 school year. With COVID restrictions graduallybeing eased, we are hopeful that we will be able to reconnectwith parents and community in ways that were not possible lastyear. 2021 brings with it lots of exciting opportunities whichwe will let you know more about in the coming weeks. It wasfantastic to see so many parents at the ‘Meet the Teacher’event last night. Hopefully you all found the sessionsinformative and helpful. I look forward to catching up with manyof you over the remainder of Term 1.
Congratulations to all the students that participated in ourschool swimming carnival last week. I am always impressedwith the efforts put in by students to push themselves to bettertheir times or even to simply finish the race. These eventsprovide a great opportunity for students to set themselves agoal and work hard to achieve it. Thanks to those parentswho came along and supported their children and also tothose teachers who assisted in the running of what was avery successful carnival. Special thanks to Ms Mace for herexcellent organisation.
I have been working hard to transform and update ourrnps.org.au website over the past weeks. You may have visitedthis site previously when we set it up as our Learning fromHome Hub. It has been reformatted to be just a regular learninghub. On the webpage you will find lots of school information– including videos, links to our radio broadcasts, details aboutpolicies and processes, class information etc. While not all ofthese items are available just yet, it is worth checking backregularly as we continue to build and add further elements. Ifyou have any suggestions about what content you would like tosee on this page, please let us know.
Students are very excited to see the return of Wakakirri for2021. Ms Kane has lots of exciting plans in store for this year’s
performance. Initial information about this exciting opportunityis being sent home over the coming days.
The commencement of each new school year is an ideal time toremind everyone about our school rules. At Richmond North,we try to keep it simple when it comes to rules – so we havejust 5. Our school rules are –
It is important that each student follows these rules so thatschool is a safe and welcoming place for all students. We askthat parents support the school by taking some time to reviewthese rules with their children. When students follow theserules, everyone benefits.
While we are always striving to do our best at Richmond North, there will inevitably be times when parents have a worry orconcern. When this does occur, I urge parents to discuss theconcern with your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Thevast majority of problems can be addressed and resolved atthis level. In the rare instances where issues can’t be resolvedat this level, parents can discuss the concern with the StageAssistant Principal. We can’t always solve every problem butwe endeavor to resolve issues where ever we can.
Finally, I wanted to acknowledge and thank the many parentswho took part in our focus groups and responded to oursurveys at the end of 2020. Your valuable feedback andsuggestions have provided us with plenty of information thathas helped shape our new school plan. When the communityand school work together for the benefit of students, it reallydoes provide the best outcomes.
Here’s to a super successful 2021!
1. Respect yourself and others.
2. Keep your hands and feet to yourself
3. Be in the right place.
4. Do as you are asked
5. Look after our school and environment

PSSA Trials notes for some particular sports are starting to behanded out to the students that are interested. Please be sureto get Mr Thurling or the Sports Co-ordinator to sign the notesprior to taking the note on the day to hand to the Coach/SportsConvener. Without this permission note your child may not beable to trial on the day.
How it works:How it works:
The schools in our Hawkesbury District inform the students ofthe trials available to them by a note in Term 1. A number ofour local teachers are assigned a particular sport and run thetrials selecting students from our local public schools to form aHawkesbury Team to represent our District at the Sydney WestCompetitions in each particular sport.
What it involves:What it involves:
The students’ parents are responsible for taking them to andfrom trials (can be up to 3 trials) in after school hours where theywill meet the coach of that team. If the student is selected forthe District Team in a particular sport, parents are responsiblefor their child on competition days (along with the coachassigned to that sport) and also for travel to and from the eventswhich are held in school time. A representative from SydneyWest PSSA will be present at these competition days and willthen select from all the students competing on that day toform a Regional Team to represent Sydney West at the StateChampionships.
