RICHARDSON – Scott Douglas and Lee Douglas Taylor.

Over the last year Lee and I have had a busy time here is a quick overview of the last 6 months.

September

We travelled to Japan for 19 days with the Southland Boys High School

Language/Culinary group to partake in our bi-annual exchange to our

Sister city Kumagaya and brother school Kumagaya Boys High School.

The group also supported my culinary team who were competing in the

International Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge. The team were

awarded Silver Medals. As a group we visited Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto,

Taki, Kumagaya and Tokyo.

October

Lee completed his year 12 art board in time to be sent away for marking.

He did photography with the focus being 1950’s travel and specifically

his grandfather’s travels. It was very special as he passed away earlier in

the year. All his hard work paid off when he was awarded 12 excellence credits

as part of his NCEA. The board was also selected to be shown in the secondary

schools art board exhibition. On opening night in March 2014

he was selected as 1 of the top 3 boards.

November

Lee was selected as one of the top 6 Prefect at SBHS a huge honour and

recognition for all his hard work over the last few years. Lee and I

travelled home to the Coast to be part of Dad special Ceremony where

he was awarded the White Star Jewel for his 57 years’ service to

Manchester Unity. It was great that we could all be there to celebrate it

and was made even more special that many family members were able

to be there to share it with him.

December/January

At the school prize giving Lee was awarded General Excellence and

was announced as 1 of 2 Deputy Head Boys of Southland Boys High

School a huge honour especially since his grandfather was an old boy

of the school. I travelled home and spent 10 days with Mum and Dad

which was great to have this time with them, it was also good to be

given a trout by Baily Kirsten which I gravlax and served as our

Xmas lunch entrée. The rest of the break was spent catching up on

stuff around the house and some reading. Lee passed Level 2 NCEA

and was endorsed with Excellence.

Page 20: Richardson reunion hanmer 2014

February

Back to school and a busy start to the year for Lee especially with his Deputy Head boy duties as well

as Speech, Shakespeare in the Park, Senior Volleyball, Coaching junior volleyball, Choir, Shakespeare

competition and winning the local Rotary Speech competition.

School for me was busy with functions with the culinary team and general school business.

March

I spent 6 days in Melbourne attending the Melbourne Food &

Wine Festival Master Class series as well as dining at some of

Melbourne’s top restaurants. I travelled with a couple of old boys

who are now qualified chefs in their own right. It was also

confirmed that Southland Boys High School will host this

years International Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge so a

big job ahead of me in organising the event in September.

What’s ahead 2014/15.

A big year for Lee and I he will turn 18 in May and I will be 50 in August. NECA Level 3 and selection

of University and course for Lee and a chance for me to look at other teaching opportunities in 2015.

To celebrate this we head overseas on the 8th December for 2 months visiting Chile, Buenos Aires,

Brazil, Washington DC, New York for New Year’s Eve, London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Florence,

Rome, Egypt, China and Japan.

SCHULTE FAMILY UPDATE RICHARDSON REUNION

HANMER 2014

A lot has happened in the five years since our last reunion page. In amongst the joys of the arrival of Oscar and watching him grow, celebrating Willem’s milestones including starting school, and adding Luna the puppy to the mix last June, there’s been the drama, distress and uncertainty of the Christchurch earthquakes and their aftermath. We must say that despite everything, we were more fortunate than many. (Though, the experience of being stuck on the 10th floor of the Clarendon towers, for several hours with several sizeable aftershocks, is something that is not easily forgotten.) Currently, in addition to raising our lovely monsters, Sarah’s working at the Environment Court. Andrew’s been in practice now for just over four years with Cavell Leitch and trying hard not to miss out on too much at home. Willem’s attending Francis of Assisi school (formerly Our Lady of Fatima) with cousin Seamus, enjoying new challenges and learning heaps. He’s also been learning to swim and has just started to play soccer. And Oscar is at St Albans Community preschool making friends and having loads of fun. Times sure are busy but we still manage lots of laughs and try to get out and about as much as we can, visiting the Catlins last Christmas holidays.

Andrew’s memory of Grandma and Grandad: In amongst the numerous memories I have of Grandma & Grandad, the time Grandma returned to Christchurch to keep an eye on us while Mum & Dad were overseas is a standout. There were little dramas: Grandma cutting her hand on the VW when we got back home; me burning down Dad’s old pup tent and missing Guy Fawkes night as a consequence and the ongoing rice pudding controversy. Then there was Grandad’s awesome visit when he decided we could get fish & chips from the shop (Grandma insisted on making her own to our chagrin!). I’ll always remember their love of a laugh, their welcoming ways and the waves until we were out of sight… From: Sarah, Andrew, Willem, Oscar & Luna.

Richardson Reunion 2014

Another 5 years has passed, since family decided to get together every 5 years. 2004 Easter was a

wonderful time at Moana, as was 2009 at Ranfurly. Now we are looking forward to Easter 20L4 al

Hamner Springs, to reminisce about Mum and Dad, immediate and extended Families

A lot has happened in our family; Firstly is the addition of 2 beautiful grand-daughters, Charlee

Myra, and Billie Kay. They are such a joy and keep their Mum and Dad very busy. Julie and Leos

family are all grown up and are all busy doing there own thing. Tracey and Brendan and family have

moved to Canterbury ,and are 25 minutes away. They are full on rearing one day old chickens, and

kids are all at Darfield School. Angela and Peter are still in Aussie, love the lifestyle and climate.

Wendy and David still in Wellington, and in their part of nz, David's boys are all grown up and

working. Michael and myself are settled into a lifestyle just south of Oxford. We finally sold our run

off, so Mikes not back and forth to coast anymore, he's taken up restoring vintage vehicles. l'm

enjoving retirement and don't have a problem pottering around doing my own thing

Looslng Yvonne last year was a real kick in guts to me, as she was my very best friend and sister.

Letting her go was hard but I didn't want to see her suffer anymore. Reunion will coincide with her

passing 1"8th April 2013. Her and John are a big part of our lives and she will be missed by all.

Looking forward to catching up with you all and having a lovely time.

Love to all Kay and Michaelxxx.Fornilv Cnrr=rtenrnq 3or3 , --eti,ii.ii:l.]:d:J'

Richardson Reunion 2014

A family reunion is a time of great joy

and excitement. In the world that we live

in, families are often scattered around

the globe. Loved ones may not see or

talk to one another for years, even

though there is but a plane ride

separating them. A family reunion is a

time to remember that although you may

feel close to your neighbours and

friends, there is nothing quite like family.

These are the ones who are closest to

you in blood. You share the same

history and ancestors who cared for you.

When you really need help, family

members are the ones who are most

likely to come through.

Hard to believe another five years has passed and we are all gathering together for our 3rd

Richardson reunion. Fortunately Peter will be able to join us this time as last time I came

alone due to Peter was recovering and not able to fly after having a quadruple bypass. (I did

leave him in good hands with our wonderful neighbours).

What have we been doing the past five years, I was lucky enough to go on my first cruise to

the Pacific Islands when I turned 40 and since then, have been on another two, and I have to

admit it’s a great way to holiday. The cocktails aren’t bad either.

Sister Bridget and husband Tony have produced two beautiful girls, Charlee and Billie and

what pocket rockets these two angels are. It’s things like this that make you miss your family

more but thank to Face time and Skype it’s like being there with them. (Maybe the next best

thing).

Sadly we will be missing a beautiful kind Auntie this year, who always took the time when

you visited to catch up on your life, with a cuppa and baking and a laugh, or story about

when we were little and stayed with the Grant Family. I was lucky enough to visit and spend

time with Auntie Yvonne last year in February were we partaked in a favourite pastime

together (cigarette smoking). Below is a verse that sums up an Auntie’s importance in our

lives and this Aunty Yvonne, you achieved effortlessly.

Page 37: Richardson reunion hanmer 2014

Much like grandparents, an aunt is not subjectively involved in what happens in the family. She is

often able to see things in a more objective way. She also may be able to build relationships with her

nieces and nephews and give them a place to get away from the family for a while. An aunt that is

committed to her nieces and nephews can play an invaluable part in their lives.

Mum (Kay) what can I say, you are an inspiration to your five daughters. After all you’ve

been through over the last few years, shoulder replacement, hip replacement, breast cancer,

the lost of your darling sister and you still though out this period, have continued with your

support, love and also been there for every-one.

A mother is special, she's more than a friend.

Whenever you need her, she'll give you a hand.

She'll lead you and guide you in all that you do.

Try all that she can just to see you get through.

Good times and bad times, she's there for it all.

Say head up, be proud, and always stand tall.

She'll love you through quarrels and even big fights,

or heart to heart chats on cold lonely nights.

My mother’s the greatest that I've ever known,

I think God made my mother like He'd make his own.

A praiser, a helper, an encourager too,

nothing in this world that she wouldn't do.

To help us succeed she does all that she can,

raised a young girl now into a woman.

I want to say thank you for all that you do,

please always know mom, that I love you.

I could go on and on, but I’m certain Mum’s and sister’s pages will also include occasions

and special events over the last five years in our lives.

Page 38: Richardson reunion hanmer 2014

Not enough hours in the day, we often say

we watch as the business of life allows time to slip away.

Before we know days turn to months and months into years,

Time is mapped with laughter and cheers,

the long road sometimes landmarked with sadness and tears.

Elders pass and children grow,

has it been that long we ask, where does the time go?

Not every chance to gather is taken.

"We'll see them next time" we say and hope we're not mistaken.

A chance like now comes once every five years it seems,

when the bright light of family is nurtured and beams,

there will be laughter and time to reminisce

we will all be proud this is a chance we did not miss.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon

Hope you all have an amazing easter!!!

Page 41: Richardson reunion hanmer 2014

Alan and Carol The last five years have been interesting to say the least with mostly positive events and a few not so positive. On the down side; The earth quake showed how vulnerable we all are to the powers of Mother Nature. CHCH is coming right however there is a long way to go. The face of CHCH has forever changed. Yvonne’s passing was difficult to accept and we are still coming to terms with it. The cancer issue that I had has been resolved and the hospital is now carrying out a watching brief.

We have been to Aus 3 times since the last reunion and the last visit was eventful. A small bird tried to remove my left eyeball and thank goodness only scratched it, it took two trips to the medical centre to put things right. Often we had the pool to ourselves and we made the most of it. Here is Carol enjoying a morning swim. We did some fishing, a lot of walking, no hire car this time and enjoyed it. Customs took a packet of

tomatoe seeds of us when we entered NZ.

Carol is showing me how to fish and I’ve just had a swim at the Noosa Beach. Jan moved in to share 662 WS. We took over the ownership of DJ. She is a bit spoilt, however gives us quit

a few laughs, she will attempt to eat anything except tomatoes & duck.

Peel Forest is still our home away from home

when we want some peace and quiet from the CHCH rebuild. Had a few issues with wasp nests

this year. Sorted them out with wasp kill and petrol, no matches involved. We completed a repaint in

2010, a few little bits still to be completed.

It was good to be present with John when he received the MUOF lodge white star for services to the lodge and the community. A special moment. Our families are all well and we are looking forward to the birth of a great Grand child this month.

Jud, Charlotte, Tahlia-Rose and Cooper Rawcliffe

Hi everyone, where have we been and what has kept us busy?

Since the last family get together…..In 2012 Jud, Tahlia-Rose and I moved to Cromwell from Oamaru and started this

new phase of our life. Jud studied Sports Turf Management for 2 years and graduated in November 2013. He now

works at the Arrowtown Golf Club and it is such a great feeling to hear him talk about his job all the time and be one of

the lucky ones for a while who ‘loves his job’. Moving was such a positive move for us.

To help fund Jud’s hunting hobby he also works part-time at Cromwell Hunting and Fishing. Since moving to Central,

Jud has started playing Squash again and went to the C grade Nationals and finished up top at the club for 2013. I

started playing senior A grade hockey again for the first time in 10 years and I can definitely say we didn’t claim any

titles but I lasted a whole season with no injuries, so bring on 2014!!

Tahlia-Rose was born in Dunedin on the 08/07/2010 so is turning 4 in July. She goes to Little Wonders 3 days a week

while I work and she loves it. They have a huge sandpit and a big race track so between doing arty crafty activities,

playing in the sandpit and riding or scootering around the track fast, she is happy as.

Tahlia–Rose enjoys and would always choose to do arty and crafty activities, loves sports, loves riding her bike, enjoys

playing at the lake, love love loves going to the farm, enjoys doing the bum dance, is so ticklish, enjoys having pillow

fights, laughs a lot, loves watching Dora, Umizoomi, Ice Age and Max and Ruby and is a lover of books. A huge highlight

was going on an aeroplane for the first time with Grandma to Melbourne, she still talks about it!!

Cooper Jud was born in Dunedin on the 04/12/2012. He is a wee dude. He also goes to Little Wonders while I work

and loves it too. The feedback most days is ‘he had a fun day, laughed lots, made us laugh and walked around poking,

prodding, pushing and pulling anything that moved.’

He is always laughing at Tahlia-Rose, giggles so much, is so ticklish, loves throwing and kicking balls, has some funny

dance moves, eats dinner like it is his last, loves swinging at the park, loves going for walks to the lake and is trying to

climb everything.

Since having children and living in Cromwell I have worked part-time as a Primary teacher. During 2012 I started a

programme called Horizons which is an individualised teaching and learning programme for children who have a

special talent, gift or strength is one or more areas. 6 children from each primary school come to me one day a week

and it is an absolute honour. It is such a neat feeling teaching children with

such motivation, passion and a genuine want to come to school. I love it!!

Since living in Central Otago, I have worked at Goldfields Primary School,

Cromwell College, Alexandra Primary School and now for my other 2 days a

week I work at Cromwell Primary School doing CRT and Senior

Management release.

So to sum it up, all is good in the Rawcliffe family. We love Cromwell, we

are happy in our new house which we brought at Christmas time, we love

living in Central Otago and we are lucky to be living close enough to our

families that we get to have a good catch up a few times a year. Going to

the farm for chill out time, seeing Mum and Dad, letting the kids enjoy farm

life and hunting is definitely still a favourite.

Goals for us: Finish the new deck, buy a boat, get Tahlia-Rose off to school

next year, get through the hockey season with no injuries, Jud to win the

squash title again, make use of our new bikes and do some of the amazing

bike/walk/run tracks around Central Otago, spend time with family and

friends, have fun and be healthy.

Take care, love Char, Jud, Tahlia-Rose and Cooper xo

The Robertson FamilyLife is crazy, busy, fun, happy and full of challenges for the five of us. Georgia is 9, Sophia 7 and Hannah 5. The girls all attend Outram school. Avon is in his 10th year of running his own firewood business. Andrea has returned to teaching after 8 years of teaching teachers at University. Between them the girls do swimming, dance, netball, touch and a variety of other things so Avon and I have become capable taxi drivers, cheerleaders and social calendar organisers.
