“The star must be simultaneously present and absent for the consumer”

The star needs to make sure that they are ‘present’ within the media as they need to keep fans remaining intrigued and interested in them but be sure not too be seen too often.

However, they also need to be slightly ‘absent’ for parts as if they weren't they would become too much for some fans.
