Our day

• Both media classes went on a day trip to ‘Rich Mix’ in London. The day was titled ‘From MTV to YouTube: Studying Music Video’. We were talked to through presentations by:

-Pete Fraser: Cheif executive for OCR A Level Media Studies

-Liz Kessler: A music video producer -Corin Hardy: A music video director

Presentations

• The first was based on the history of music videos, codes and conventions and top tips for producing our videos.

• The second on working in the industry and commissioning and producing music videos

• The third was simply a talk with Corin Hardy as working as a music video director whereby he showed us several videos that were his creations.

Task

• We were given a task to do over lunch whereby we were played a track and we had to think of an idea for its music video. The track was called ‘No Rest’ and we had to think about:

-Ideas for video-Intertexual references -Locations/special features These were then pitched to Liz and Corin, who were given a

wide range of ideas from houses to mountains and portraits to rooms from a theatre along with professional dancing and props like bears and past lovers.
