Ribbed Hat and Scarf www.knittingboard.com © 2017 Authentic Knitting Board INSTRUCTIONS Scarf Cast On 22 stitches in stockinette stitch. Use one skein of yarn for scarf. Row 1: Work in rib stitch. Repeat Row 1, until scarf is as long as desired, or 12” of yarn remain. Bind off with basic bind off at loom. Bind off at anchor yarn starting at end opposite the yarn tail. Knot the bind off by pulling the yarn tail thru last loop. Gently remove the anchor yarn. Hat Cast on 52 stitches in stockinette, and set up to knit in the round. Lay anchor yarn with ends dangling below the loom. Round 1: Work in rib stitch. Repeat round 1, until knit is 8.5 -9” Finishing: Cut yarn with 12” remaining. Work the gather bind off to remove the hat from loom using the darning needle. Draw stitches up by pulling gently on yarn tail. Knot and sew several stitches to secure. Bind off at anchor yarn loosely for brim of hat. Weave in ends. Great easy pattern for beginners! Full rib stitch in both hat and scarf creates a great fitting hat. A wonderful ‘go to’ hat for any occasion. LOOM: ‘Rotating’ Double Knit Loom. Hat is knit in round and the scarf is knit as flat panel. YARN: 350 yards worsted weight yarn for scarf, 200 for hat. Sample knit with Loops and Threads, Madrid yarn. 2 skeins, color Denim. STITCHES: Stockinette and Rib. NOTIONS: Knit hook, darning needle, crochet hook, size 4 or 5mm. SIZE: Scarf 55” x 6”, Hat 9” deep. GAUGE: 6 sts X 10 rows =2 inches.
