„Large harbour campus“
Northwest of Gelsenkirchen in the city of Kleve, the new buildings of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, home of the departments of Technology and Bionics, Life Sciences as well as Society and Econo-mics, were constructed on approximately 6 hectares of property in the old harbour area on the banks of the Spoy Canal in the lower part of the town. The library is located in the former storehouse of Allgemeine Spedi-tionsgesellschaft AG. Its impressive height makes it a highly visible landmark of the new university complex, whose campus resembles a waterfront city.
Altogether 14 buildings with 3 to 4 storeys were con-structed on the large site. Dobler Metallbau was com-missioned to provide approx. 24,000 m² unitised faca-de, sheet metal cladding and other metal construction measures for twelve individual buildings within only 7 months.
