The skin protects our body in many ways. At the same time it fulfills im-portant functions. Last but not least the skin prevents the penetration of the skin by pathogens.

But the skin is sensitive and is affect-ed and damaged by environmental conditions, injury and diseases. For the human body a functional skin is essential and that should be assured and supported by modern care prod-ucts.

Especially the skin of older people requires special care as the risk of skin diseases or irritations increases with the age. The amount of peo-ple which need to be treated due to dermatological problems should be at over 40 % among residents in re-tirement and care homes.

Thus, we pay high attention to friendly cleaning products, effective and sustainable skin care and skin care with a regenerative effect.Our products were designed and developed for people with mature, stressed or particularly sensitive skin.

With the rheomed-care line, we want to take over dermatological respon-sibility and meet the needs in care. High quality cosmetic products for high demands are available at a very good price-performance ratio.

Our rheomed-products achieved very good results in dermatological tests and are suitable for the integra-tion into modern skin care concepts. Care experts recommend rheomed!

Our skin

The indication of the emulsion phase water in oil and oil in water at each emulsion creams is shown with the symbol W/O or O/W.

Technically W/O-emulsion means that the water is surrounded by an oil phaseand for O/W emulsion it is vice versa.

Here it should be noted that contra-ry to the popular opinion in the care field not only W/O-creams should be used. Furthermore it is also not true that O/W-creams do not automati-cally have a lower proportion of lip-ids and oils than W/O-creams.

Basically W/O-creams have a more greasing character and are film-forming. Therefore, W/O-creams are especially suitable as barrier creams and do not quickly draw into the skin. The skin gets a water-repellent character.

The skin absorbs the oil components of the cream slowly and thus the ac-tive ingredients from these creams can slowly and over a longer period act on the skin (e.g. wound cream with its active ingredient Dexpanthe-nol). Due to the aqueous phase the W/O-cream becomes air-permeable and differs therefore from pure fat ointments which should be avoided in modern care (e.g. Vaseline or clas-sic bag balm).

O/W-creams draw in faster into the skin because it better records emul-sions based on aqueous phases. O/W-creams can be easily rinsed of with water and therefore offer only a poor barrier protection. Also O/W creams can be set very greasy (e.g. rheomed-Care crèmeor rheomed-Milking grease soft)but tend to be used on more greasy and oily skin (e.g. rheomed-Skin care crème).

Due to the more liquid consistency O/W-creams can be quickly spread on the skin (example:rheomed-Body care lotion). Due to the aqueous phase pureO/W-creams tend to increased dry-ing effects which is avoided in mod-ern formulations by the addition of corresponding agents.
