Due to the flexibility of the © KRAI antennas, the system can be adapted and optimized for a particular application. With their unique antenna properties such as Circular Switch Beam, Switch Pol or Cascade completely new solutions can be realized.

LLRP 1.0.1-ProtokollFor the standardized access of generic software systems a LLRP APP is available for the embedded Linux Reader. LLRP 1.0.1 is a by EPCglobal standard protocol (http://www.gs1.org/gsmp/kc/epcglobal/llrp) to standardize the reader commands for the air interface.
Reader Linux OSThrough an embedded Linux operating system directly on the reader own or Kathrein RFID-specific applica-tion SW can be installed and operate. Through the powerful connection to the controller of the air interface very high TAG population can be analyzed nearly in real time.
AppManagerThe function AppManager allows the installation and configuration of application software. ReaderStart v2.xx functions like Access Manager, LLRP APP or Skidata APP can be conveniently administered on the Linux OS of the reader.
Data Read RecordBy the Data Read Record function of ReaderStart-SW all Kathrein RFID readers can read and record two memory banks of RFID transponder simultaneously. The reading data for the EPC, TID, USER and RFU me-mory bank can be selected and stored chronologically. This linked data can be read out in parallel and jointly evaluated for e.g. safety requirements.
TAG PhaseAll Kathrein RFID reader can recognize the TAG-phase with each read operation. In this case, the change in the TAG-phase is directly proportional to the movement of the transponder. As a result, the movement of the transponder and the direction of the movement will be shown. This allows easy detection of direction without additional sensors like light barrier.
Spectral ScanThe „Spectral Scan“ function enables the detection of high frequency interferers, which fall within the transmis-sion range of UHF RFID Reader. This interference may be caused by Short Range Devices (1st harmonic of 433 MHz) and other UHF RFID Reader with insufficient decoupling. With the Spectral scan function the noise level of these parasitic interferers can be recorded directly with the connected antennas.
TAG ScanIn addition to TAG-phase, Linux Embedded Reader can represent the RSSI value and the TAG phase at the same time. This makes it very easy to use the data for Tag movement and positioning.

Antenna CascadeThe © KRAI function Antenna Cascade allows the cascading of antennas. So the number of antennas per reader will be increased up to 32 pcs.
Antenna Switch PolThe © KRAI function Antenna Switch Pol allows the dynamic selection of the antenna polarization. Thus the best polarization can be selected for the running application dynamically, to increase the read rate or to detect the orientation of the transponder.
Antenna Switch BeamThe © KRAI function Antenna Switch Beam allows the dynamic selection of the antenna beams. Thus the reading area can be adjusted dynamically to the running application in order to recognize the direction of movement.

For fast and efficient Configuration and parameterization of the Kathrein RFID systems the new „Reader-Start V2.54“ software is available.
By pre-selecting a large number of optimized and tested RFID applications, the RFID system can be adapted to different applications and optimized very simple. By the Function AppManager, Kathrein or application SW from customers can be installed and configured. Thus, the system can grow with the requirements of customers.
Konfiguration
In addition to TAG-phase Linux Embedded Reader can simultaneously represent the RSSI value and the TAG phase with at a scan. This makes it very easy to assess the criteria for motion estimation!The movement of the transponder is indicated by the responses of the TAG-phase. The RSSI value will only change in small steps. The direction of movement is again specified by the rotating pointer.
The „Spectral Scan“ function enables the detection of high frequency interferers, which fall within the transmission range of UHF RFID Reader. This interference may be caused by Short Range Devices (1st harmonic of 433 MHz) and other UHF RFID Reader with insufficient decoupling. With the Spectral scan function the noise level of these parasitic inter-ferers can be recorded directly with the connected antennas.

Kathrein RFID AVI solutions are characterized by simple handling and intuitive operation. At the same time, they are equipped with a wealth of functions for fast and secure identification of all kinds of vehicles. The application software „Access Manager“ allows user-controlled entry and configuration of the transponder data, which has to be detected. The Access Manager can be installed on the reader using the function AppManager. Programming knowledge is not necessary. The transponders, registered in the system, can be recorded and assigned to specific processes. This individual transponders or vehicles are dedicated to appropriate permissions.
Depending on these choices, up to four digital out-puts can be switched to allow access via barrier or gate. In addition to the recorded permissions, each read event can be stored in a log file. The subscriber identifier or name and the exact time will be recor-ded in a SQLite database. This information can be retrieved for a desired duration. In this case, the ac-cess is via a remote connection or locally as a CSV or XML file. Thereafter an analysis of the duration or parking time can be done.
AccessManager
Kathrein RFID readers available with an optional LLRP protocol stack installable as an LLRP APP. For easier integration, Linux Embedded Reader can be controlled via the LLRP 1.0.1 (Low Level Reader Protocol). This is a standard protocol from EPCglobal (http://www.gs1.org/gsmp/kc/epcglobal/llrp) to standardize the reader commands for the air interface.
