RFID COMPONENTS AND WORKING

RFID provides wireless identification of

people or assets.

RFID -CARD : Made up of Antenna

and an memory. The unique ID of card is

known as EPC- Electronic Product

Code.

Reader : RFID reader Reads EPC of

RFID card brought near to it & record its

EPC code, date & time. It may also have

Biometric system.

Computer : Reader data is periodically

transferred to Computer for further MIS

reports.

Mobile Attendance Recorder Mini portable RFID reader is for Data collection from

RFID card anytime and anywhere without computer

connectivity. The data stored into the memory with

time stamp.

Process of class room attendance

Faculty gives Mobile Reader to one student

at the start of the teaching in the class.

The first Student will mark his attendance by

brining his smart card near to Reader.

Now he will give Reader to next student.

The process will continue for all the students.

The teaching is going on.

At the end, mobile Reader will go back to faculty.

Faculty can upload this attendance once a week or

so in ERP.


Limitations of RFID

HF Technology

Low Read range. 1 CM

Costly as compared to LF.

Slow system. – Slow read by HF Reader & one person / Card at a

time.

Student movement tracing is not possible.

Bio-matrix always have issue of not reading the thumb.

So at attendance point, there can be rush & delays.

LF Technology

No Memory

5 CM Read Range. Much Lower than UHF.

Advantage : Cheaper than HF.
