a The VGLL-TU must cater for the following services :

i. VGLL Services ii. Diginet-Basic Services (1.2kbit/s to 64kbit/s) iii. Diginet-Plus Services (64kbit/s to 2048kbit/s) iv. E1 (120 Ohm) G. 703/G.704 v. 10/100 Base T Ethernet Bridge Services

b The VGLL TU will have a standards based SHDSL line interface and will

inter operate with existing and new ATM based DSLAM equipment used in Telkom SA ; such as Marconi AXH600 DSLAM, HUAWEI DSLAM. UMC1000 etc.

c The VGLL TU must also inter operate with the following Telkom CBR

platforms for Diginet-Basic and Diginet-Plus service offerings: GPT/Marconi (EDM6003 /Flexnt/ACE) and Tellabs 8100 Managed Access System

The following critical criteria will be used to evaluate:

a. Compliance to the technical specification. b. Bidders must be 25.1% black owned and preferably with female

representation. c. Compliance to commercial conditions. d. Telkom reserves the right to ask for samples and these should be made

available to Telkom within 5 working days from the date of request.
