prayer! Lead kids in prayer

• If this is your first time here, we welcome you to the Way Station.

• At our church we believe that Jesus Christ is our Risen Savior. We also believe that the Bible is God’s Word! And we love learning how to be fully devoted followers of Christ!

• We’ve been having a ton of fun REWINDing with some backwards competitions this month. Today we’re going back to movies because everybody loves movies. I know I do! ELEM Rewind WK 3 (1)

• I’m going to read a famous line from a movie. If you know what movie it’s from, stand up quickly, and I may call on you. But don’t SHOUT the name out unless I call on you.

• Oh, and since we’re REWINDing, I’ll be saying the lines backwards

• Those are great! Now, several months ago, Houston, TX experienced a devastating hurricane, much like Hurricane Irma was to us here in Florida and the Caribbean Islands.

• Well, the Houston Texans have a rookie quarterback named Deshaun Watson.

• So here is this famous, hot shot, starting quarterback of an NFL team getting paid a whole lot of money!

• And do you know what he did with his first paycheck? He didn’t buy a car. He didn’t go shopping. He GAVE it to three women who serve food at the team’s cafeteria who lost everything as a result of the hurricane!

• Wow! All month, we’ve talked about the opportunities for us to show kindness that pop up all of the time.

• Sure enough, in the Bible, Matthew includes one of Jesus’ teachings where He seems to be talking about this idea. Let’s check it out!

• Maybe there is somebody from your school who has been really sick lately. What if you collected some of her work for her and dropped by her house to help her get caught up? ELEM Rewind WK 3 (4)

                                                       

 

• Or maybe your closets are overflowing with some new clothes you got for Christmas along with all of your old ones. What if you went through and picked out some that are still in good condition and donated them to a local shelter or organization?

• Remember Jesus’ words: “Anything you did for one of the least important of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

• It is not just about what we have RECEIVED, but it is now a challenge about what we can GIVE.

• After you answer that question, think about those who are often overlooked. How could you show kindness to them this week . . . and by doing so, show kindness to Jesus! Let’s pray.

Dear God, You are such a big, awesome, and loving Father. You’re always kind to us, even when we don’t deserve it. Please help us to be kind to others, especially to the people who get ignored, who are lonely, or who feel forgotten. When we’re kind to them, help them see how much You love them. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
