Esplugues News starts as a result of our concerns, ambitions and dreams related to the world of education and, especially, to the English language. It is clear that education makes us better and that languages play an important part in helping us to understand other cultures and lifestyles.At the same time, we would like this publication (a pioneer in the school environment of our town) to serve as a link to allow us to echo your concerns. We ask you to reflect, have fun and be a part of each issue published.As you will see in this first copy of Esplugues News, it is just a sample of what you can find in future issues, where we will talk about topics of interest for children, teenagers and adults.Finally, with the aim of contributing to the development of your self-improvement we have arranged the 1st Literary Contest in English Language in Esplugues de Llobregat. The rules will be published shortly in our next number.

Esplugues News, neix com a conseqüència de les nostres inquietuds, ambicions i il•lusions, relacionades amb el món de l’Educació i, molt especialment, amb el de la llengua anglesa. És evident que la formació ens fa millors i que els idiomes, com una part important d’ella, ens ajuda a entendre altres cultures i formes de vida.Paral•lelament, ens agradaria també que aquest mitjà (pioner en l’entorn escolar de la nostra població) servís de vincle i que ens permetés fer-nos ressò de les vostres inquietuds convidant-vos a uns instants de reflexió, diversió i partici-pació, amb cada exemplar que surti a la llum.Com podreu observar, el primer exemplar de Esplugues News és només una mostra del que podreu trobar en futures edicions en les quals parlarem de temes d’interès per a nens, joves i adults. Finalment, i amb el propòsit de contribuir al desenvolupament del vostre afany de superació, hem pensat convocar el I Certamen Literari en Llengua Anglesa a Esplugues de Llobregat, les bases del qual es faran públiques en breu, en la propera publicació.

1. Organízate. Cada noche, antes de acostarte, prepá-

rate o anota las tareas para la jornada siguiente. Resér-

vate un horario para el estudio.

2. Intenta cumplir el horario establecido. A veces, se-

guramente te costará, pero con un poco de esfuerzo,

cada día te resultará más sencillo.

3. El entorno es muy importante. Intenta que sea tran-

quilo y silencioso (tu habitación, la biblioteca, etc.) y

sobre todo que no hayan cosas que te inviten a la dis-

tracción.

4. No es aconsejable dedicar más de 60 minutos al es-

tudio del mismo tema. Si lo haces, tómate 15 minutos

de descanso y cambia a otra materia. Inmediatamente

después de comer resérvate un pequeño descanso.

5. No memorices. Razona, intenta comprender las res-

puestas.

6. Trata de ser constante y metódico, sin llegar a obse-

sionarte. Si surgen imprevistos, intenta no invertir en

ellos el tiempo reservado para el estudio. Este debe ser

intocable.

7. No lo dejes todo para el último momento. Si estudias

a medida que se van explicando los temas en clase,

aprenderás más fácilmente.

8. Aprende primero a estudiar en tu espacio. Y cuando

hayas aprendido a vencer las tentaciones, estudia en

grupo. Estudiar en grupo es enriquecedor y productivo,

pero recuerda que el interés común del grupo es apren-

der y aprovechar las aportaciones de cada estudiante.

or write down the tasks for the next day. Establish a

schedule for studying.

2. Try to meet the schedule. Sometimes, of course, it

will be difficult, but with a little effort, every day it

will be easier.

3. Your surroundings are very important. Try to be in a

calm and quiet place (your room, the library, etc.). And

above all, try to avoid things which may distract you.

4. It is not advisable to spend more than 60 minutes

studying the same subject. If you do so, take a 15 mi-

nute break and change to another subject. In case you

want to study immediately after eating, take a little

break first.

5. Try to work things out and to understand the an-

swers. Do not learn them in a mechanical way.

6. Try to be constant and methodical and do not get

obsessed. If unforeseen circumstances appear, avoid

taking up the time reserved for studying. This should

be untouchable.

7. Do not leave everything to the last minute. If you

study as the lessons are explained in class, you will

learn more easily.

8. First, learn how to study in your own space. Once

you have learnt how to overcome temptations, then

study in group. Studying in group is both enriching and

productive, but remember that the common interest of

the group is to learn and take advantage of the contri-

butions made by each student.
