A house is made of walls and beams; a home is made of love and dreams. This quote truly describes the meaning behind the doors of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. 118 Waldron is the place I call home each every day spent at Purdue. Being a member for the past year and a half, this is the place I return to after holiday breaks, long stressful hours of class, and after a night out with my sisters. Walking through these doors each day knowing I will be welcomed by my fellow 84 sisters living at this mansion is what I look forward to everyday and is one the compo-nents that describe who I am. Now after finding out what Zeta means to me, I will nents that describe who I am. Now after finding out what Zeta means to me, I will now take you through the indoors and what a typical day at the Z looks like.

First, as you walk in the doors of ZTA you will be happily greeted by none other then our fabulous house mom, Momma Mary. She is the backbone of our house the person whom we go to in times of need, for advice or just to have a conversation with. The picture above shows her living quarters of the house. She has her own desk/office area, and a mini apart-ment, including a bed, TV, bathroom and living room. All of us are welcome in there at all times, making daily appearances in there she definitely knows how to brighten my day.

Next, as you turn the corner after walking in the door, you will be in our formal living room. We have a fireplace, couches, grand piano, and most importantly a compos-ite picture including all the members of ZTA. Everyone enjoys socializing and relax-ing in here after a long day of schoolwork. The living room also contains all of Zeta’s awards and trophies won throughout the years. Played by none other then the music lovers of the house, the grand piano is played on a daily basis and every-one enjoys the soothing music.

Venturing through the doors bordering the living room, you are now entering the dining room/study room area. Filled with multiple tables and chairs, this is the place to be when the clock hits 11:30AM and 5:30PM. Eating every meal in there as a chapter, we all spend a lot of time in this room. Not only is it the place to eat, once 7 o’clock hits it becomes a study area. Remaining completely silent, girls study and do homework in here on a nightly basis.

Walking up the stairs, you will now find the pride and joy of being a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. This hallway represents our philanthropy that we put on each year, standing for Big Man On Campus. Last year alone we raised 152,111 dollars going to Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. Putting on many events throughout the school year, it all leads up to the final competition in March. BMOC is a talent con-test between one man from each fraternity and whoever acquires the most points is crowned the Big Man on Campus.

Traveling down the second floor hallway, we now approach the mail-box area. Everyone loves receiving cards/gifts in the mail, so ZTA gives each sister their own mailbox to make everyone feel at home. Found next to the mailboxes is what we call our “shoe board” where each person writes down their shoe size so everyone is able to borrow and share their shoes. This gives so many more opportunities to find shoes that will go great with your outfit!

Going up now to the third floor, you will find where I spend most of my time each day, my desk. There are multiple components to my personal desk. Varying from my cosmetic needs, to decorations, and then most importantly my schoolwork and books. I complete all my homework at this desk, along with studying for exams. Occasionally browsing the web, on Facebook, Twitter, or just online shopping on my Macbook.

Finally, the last and certainly not least, is the Chapter room. Going all the way down to the basement, this is where you’ll find me at 730 each Sunday night. All the members of ZTA are required to be in attendance where as you can see we all sit and discuss the upcoming events in the Greek community. Our president, and executive council sit at the head table and they conduct each meeting. Now after seeing various rooms in our house, we have now com-pleted the tour of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority house, showing what my typical life at the Z entails.life at the Z entails.

We have now completed the tour of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority house, showing what my typical life at the Z entails.I hope after seeing what is behind these closed doors, everyone has a better understanding of what living in a sorority house looks like. There is alot more then people think behind closed doors.
