. © Copyright – ECB Pty Ltd – 2018 1 EASY31SY FITTING INSTRUCTIONS SSANGYONG ACTYON 08-02/12 ARC™ BAR VEHICLE FRONTAL PROTECTION SYSTEM (VFPS) FOR AIR BAG & ADR COMPLIANT VEHICLES Check installation hardware before commencing. 1. Lift bonnet. 2. Remove six plastic screw clips from across top of bumper to radiator support. From wheel arch, remove six PK screws and two plastic screw clips (per side). 3. Carefully pull section under headlight forward from wheel arch side to release clips. Remove from vehicle. 4. Remove two 10mm head bolts from headlights. Carefully remove headlights, disconnect wiring as you go. 5. From under headlight, remove two 10mm head bolts and one plastic screw clip (per side), from top of bumper cover. 6. From behind lower centre grille, remove two 12mm head bolts. 7. Carefully remove bumper cover. 8. Remove lower under body guard, four 12mm head bolts. 9. Remove lower 17mm head bolt and nut from front of chassis rails. 10. Install ECB steel mounting brackets (supplied) onto vehicle using two 3/8 x 1 bolts, flat washers, spring washers and nuts (per side) (supplied) onto bumper support. Align rear hole to lower mount hole in chassis rail and install one ½ x 1 ½ bolt, flat washers, spring washers and nut (per side) (supplied). TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS. See figure 1. 11. Using ECB steel mounting brackets as a guide, drill hole in top of bumper support to 10mm and lower hole in chassis mount to 13mm. See figure 2. NOTE: Blow all filings clear and treat all exposed metal with a rust inhibitor. 12. Install 3/8 x 1 ¼ bolt and washer on wire, flat washer, spring washer and nut (supplied) into drilled hole in bumper support and ½ x 1 ½ bolt flat washer, spring washer and nut (supplied) into drilled hole on lower section of chassis rail. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS. 13. Trim template (supplied) ready for marking bumper cover. Measure template to ensure correct as some printers may vary the template size. 14. Align template with rear edge of bumper cover. Mark bumper cover for cut. See figure 5. 15. Trim bumper cover along inner edge of headlight trim opening to template mark. Continue down marked area and across outer bumper until vertical centre lines on bumper are reached. Turn down bumper and continue off bottom of bumper to remove sections. See figure 3 for before trim and 4 for after trim. REPLACES: 16.02.10 REVISED: 16.01.18 .

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
SSANGYONG ACTYON 08-02/12 ARC™ BAR VEHICLE FRONTAL PROTECTION SYSTEM (VFPS)
FOR AIR BAG & ADR COMPLIANT VEHICLES
Check installation hardware before commencing.
1. Lift bonnet.
2. Remove six plastic screw clips from across top of bumper to radiator support. From wheel arch, remove six PK
screws and two plastic screw clips (per side).
3. Carefully pull section under headlight forward from wheel arch side to release clips. Remove from vehicle.
4. Remove two 10mm head bolts from headlights. Carefully remove headlights, disconnect wiring as you go.
5. From under headlight, remove two 10mm head bolts and one plastic screw clip (per side), from top of bumper
cover.
6. From behind lower centre grille, remove two 12mm head bolts.
7. Carefully remove bumper cover.
8. Remove lower under body guard, four 12mm head bolts.
9. Remove lower 17mm head bolt and nut from front of chassis rails.
10. Install ECB steel mounting brackets (supplied) onto vehicle using two 3/8 x 1 bolts, flat washers, spring washers
and nuts (per side) (supplied) onto bumper support. Align rear hole to lower mount hole in chassis rail and install
one ½ x 1 ½ bolt, flat washers, spring washers and nut (per side) (supplied). TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS. See
figure 1.
11. Using ECB steel mounting brackets as a guide, drill hole in top of bumper support to 10mm and lower hole in
chassis mount to 13mm. See figure 2. NOTE: Blow all filings clear and treat all exposed metal with a rust

12. Install 3/8 x 1 ¼ bolt and washer on wire, flat washer, spring washer and nut (supplied) into drilled hole in

of chassis rail. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS.
13. Trim template (supplied) ready for marking bumper cover. Measure template to ensure correct as some printers
may vary the template size.
14. Align template with rear edge of bumper cover. Mark bumper cover for cut. See figure 5.
15. Trim bumper cover along inner edge of headlight trim opening to template mark. Continue down marked area
and across outer bumper until vertical centre lines on bumper are reached. Turn down bumper and continue off
bottom of bumper to remove sections. See figure 3 for before trim and 4 for after trim.

16. Remove two 10mm bolts from air conditioner receiver dryer. Slide ECB protection plate (supplied) behind dryer
mount and reattach using original bolts. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS. See figure 6.
17. Refit bumper cover as per reverse of steps 2 to 7. Do not refit headlights at this point.
18. Splice ECB indicator/ park wiring into original wiring harness behind headlight. Place wiring behind bumper
cover taking care not to crush or run over sharp areas. Refit headlights and headlight trims to bumper cover.
19. Splice ECB fog light wiring into vehicle fog light wiring harness.
20. Fit ECB LED indicator / park lights (supplied) into protection bar as per instructions supplied with the LED
indicator kit. NOTE: Ensure park light is to outside. See figure 7.
21. Attach ECB fog lights to protection bar. Place M6 x 20 bolts, spring washers (supplied) through light mount
from inside and attach nut to top. Slide assembly into light mount in Protection bar and centralize light to hole.
TIGHTEN FIRM ONLY. See figure 8.
22. Attach 6mm clip lock trim (supplied) to top of ECB protection bar. NOTE: Trim off lower edge on an angle so
trim will sit flush with end of protection bar. See figures 9, 10 and 11.
23. Fit ECB protection bar to outside of steel mounting brackets. Use ½ x 1 ½ bolts, flat washers, spring washers and
nuts (supplied) FINGER TIGHTEN ONLY.
24. Align ECB protection bar to vehicle ensuring a minimum 10mm gap from wing to front edge of bumper cover
and allowing 12mm around front of bumper. Front of protection bar should be vertical for correct fitment.
Protection bar does not run level to bumper at sides. See figures 12 and 13. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS.
25. Connect and test vehicle wiring to ensure correct operation.
26. Trim outer section from plastic under body guard to allow neat contact around ECB steel mounts and refit using
original bolts. Trim inner guards to suit Protection bar and neatly tuck behind end caps.
ENSURE NUMBER PLATE IS CLEARLY VISABLE
Note: When fitting/refitting the licence plate to the vehicle, ensure there is no obstruction to licence plate vision in
accordance with local authorities. If required relocate licence plate to an alternate location.
Further VFPS Notes:
a) Do not attach VFPS to the vehicle using anchorages not intended for this purpose (e.g. engine mounting bolts).
b) Do not use this product for any vehicle make or model, other than those specified by the VFPS manufacturer.
c) Do not remove the plaque or label from the VFPS.
d) Do not modify the structure of the VFPS in any way.
e) No accessory or fitment should project forward of the VFPS forward profile.
f) ENSURE THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE LEFT WITH VEHICLE OWNER AND/OR OPERATOR.

Periodically check bolts and nuts for correct tightness, especially if travelling on rough roads
