1. Overview of Survey Questionnaire

Welcome to the ESCAP survey questionnaire to undertake a review of the Regional

Implementation Plan for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific, 2011-2015

(E/ESCAP/MCED(6)/12).

This survey questionnaire has been divided into six programme areas according to the

Regional Implementation Plan for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific, 2011-2015

as follows: (a) Harmonizing rapid economic growth, employment generation and

environmental sustainability; (b) Promoting sustainable urban development; (c) Enhancing ecological carrying capacity; (d) Improving energy resource management for sustainable development; (e) Improving water resource management for sustainable development, including:

sustainable urban development, provision of urban services to rural areas,

and improved resilience to extreme weather events and climate change; (f) Enhancing the resilience of socio-economic development to climate change.

Each section of this survey questionnaire is comprised of a brief introduction followed

by a set of multiple choice and open-ended questions. At the end of each section, you will have

the opportunity to submit additional comments. Please provide specific examples as

appropriate. If you need more space please use the sheets provided at the end of the

document.

Each section should be completed by the ministry or ministries predominantly engaged

in the corresponding programme area(s) of work. Each section should take approximately 20

minutes to complete depending on the extent of activities undertaken between October 2011

and December 2015.
