Alliteration

• Definition: The repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words or in stressed syllables.

• Why is alliteration important to understand?

• Alliteration is important because it lets the poet stress words to make them stand out.

• It is also important because it lets the poem flow with a certain rhythm.

What is a Rhyme Scheme?

• Definition: The pattern of rhyme between lines of a poem or song. It is usually referred to by using letters to indicate which lines rhyme.

• It is also consistent throughout the poem.

• Example: AABBAA

containing four lines.

• There should be at least 4 examples of alliteration in your poem. Use the first letter of your first name to see which letter you will use.• For example: Linda = The letter L (Little life's lovely lies)

• Also, write the rhyme scheme of your poem at the end.

• Example: AABBA

Complete the poem regarding nature at home.-The poems need to have at least 4 stanzas including the 2 already written in class, and 8 examples of alliteration using the first letter of your first name.
