Fentanyl Response
• Since December 2015, Alberta has tripled its supply of
naloxone kits, from 3,000 to 9,000 kits.
– Alberta now has more than 700 naloxone distribution sites, including
community pharmacies, walk-in clinics, and harm reduction agencies. That’s
up from eight a year ago.
– Distributed more than 2,000 naloxone kits since the summer of 2015.
• Other actions include:
– Public education campaigns and educational key messages
– Alberta Health and AHS collaborating with Health Canada and First Nations
communities to ensure this issue is addressed on and off reserve
– Work on longer term actions to improve monitoring, treatment access, and
better address addiction issues is underway
