STEWARDSHIP IS THE GRATEFUL RESPONSE OF A CHRISTIAN DISCIPLE WHO RECOGNIZES

PILLAR OF HOSPITALITY PILLAR OF PRAYER

AND RECEIVES GODrsquoS GIFTS AND SHARE THESES GIFTS IN LOVE OF GOD AND NEIGHBOR

PILLAR OF FORMATION Liturgy of the Day We gather together today as

we do each Sunday as the Body of Christ Jesus

called us to love God with all our heart all our

soul all our mind and all our strength and to love

our neighbor as ourselves This Valentinersquos Day

we commit ourselves to nurturing that love for

God and love for our neighbor Let the Body and

Blood of Christ we receive in the Eucharist bring us

the strength and the courage to truly become the

body of Christ in the world today

Introduction to the Liturgy of the Word Both the

first reading and the Gospel deal with the illness of

leprosy not exactly the subject we hoped to hear

about on Valentinersquos Day In Mosesrsquos day leprosy

was a sign of sinfulness and separation from God

But in the Gospel Jesus the Son of God reaches

out and touches the leper The leper is literally not

separated from God at all Not even leprosy is a

barrier to Jesusrsquo healing touch As members of the

Body of Christ it is now up to us to break through

those barriers Listening to the Word of God let us

take Paulrsquos words as a challenge ldquoBe imitators of

me as I am of Christrdquo

PILLAR OF SERVICE

Reflection Paul gives a very clear guideline for

how a Christian should behave The focus is not

that something is good or bad but how it affects

others We are not to seek our own advantage or

pleasure but to consider the needs of those around

us and seek to imitate Christ If we put others be-

fore ourselves it is unlikely that we will need to

worry about what is good or bad Truly bad things

would obviously hurt others and even some

ldquogoodrdquo things may be a scandal to them Christ

sought to lift people up and encourage the good

He say in them rather than point out their failing

That is what we should be striving for too

I said ldquo I confess my faults to the Lordrsquo and you took

away the guilt of my sin-Psalm 325

O my Jesus I believe with all my heart with all my

soul with all my strength and with all my being that

You are truly present in the

most blessed Sacrament of

the Altar Jesus I love You

above all things and

persons and I desire to

receive You into my soul

Since I am unable now to

receive You sacramentally I ask to be united with

You spiritually I reach out to embrace You know-

ing that You are always there always coming back

to me in the Eucharist and I unite myself entirely to

You Come then and inhabit the tabernacle of my

heart and make my body a temple for Your Holy

Spirit and then through the Power of that Spirit

grant me the faith the discernment the patience

and perseverance and especially the humility to

successfully resist desecrating this temple I beg

You to do this in Your Most Precious Name and for

Your eternal glory Amen
