Three Easy Questions
Three Questions when you read the chapter you wish to study:
1. What does the chapter say?
2. What does that mean – specifically – to me?
3. What am I going to do about it?
Some add an optional memory verse as a part of the process to
help them retain what God has said to them.
KV 2: Those who stand in God's Triumph
1 - 4: Victory over the darkness
5 - 8: God's glory is overwhelming
Seven Angels with Seven Bowls
Who are these angels?
• v.1 tells us – the last 7 plagues that finish
the wrath of God on sin and those who will
not turn to Him
With the advent of this group of Angels, the
Glory of God fills the Temple in Heaven and
no one is able to enter until the 7 bowls are
empty and that wrath is completed (v.8)
Overwhelming smoke and power fill the
heavenly sanctuary until the end of the
pouring out of God’s wrath.
The Overcomers
v.2 tells us that they are standing on a sea of glass mixed with
fire, with harps (Lyres? Guitars?), singing the Song of Moses
from Deuteronomy 32 (which is quoted here).
And do you think I could find a good picture of this?
NO WAY!
The Heavenly Temple
After the seven angels with the seven bowls emerge, the
temple is filled with “smoke and power.” Because of this,
no one may enter until the wrath of Almighty God is poured
out on those that will not choose to obey Him.
The AWESOME power displayed here is in part because of
the holiness of God – and how no one can approach Him
until sin is dealt with once and for all.
So what does this
mean?
God is HOLY!
God will NOT look on SIN (any violation of His holy standard)!
Before anyone can enter into the presence of God, their sin MUST
be dealt with appropriately!
But how do we DO that?
There are two ways to attempt to deal with your sinfulness:
1. Your way
2. HIS way
Let’s look at both ways and compare!
YOUR way:
Ritual and Rite of Religion
Good behaviour, thinking, or deeds (good works)
What does the Bible say about these methods?
“6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our
righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a
leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.”
--Isaiah 64:6
HIS way:
Become human and pay the price to redeem you to Himself
That’s what Jesus did on the cross on a hill named “The Skull.”
Romans 6:23 – “The WAGES of sin is death, but the FREE GIFT
of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 – “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin
on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of
God in Him.”
Jesus said this:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the
Father but through Me.” (John 14:6)
The only way to approach God is His way – Jesus. Call that
closed-minded if you like, but the Book says “whoever will may
come,” and that is as open as it gets.
