3. What is the Size of the land owned /leased? _________________50 acres in algudewadi and 20 acres in Vidani
4. How many crops do you cultivate in a year? What is the gap between the two crops?
Wheat, Bajri, Sugarcane.
No gap between crops.
The cycle is sugarcane and rabbi crops that are 18 months sugarcane and 6 months wheat and Bajri according to the weather conditions.
5. How much land do you use for cultivation?
Entire land of 50 ACRES was used for farming purpose, according to Mr. Chitins.
6. How many crops do you harvest each year?
The crops harvest are wheat bajra and sugarcane.

7. Do you have access to the government schemes for the subsidies?
He falls into rich farmer category. Doesn’t receive any government subsidies.
Incentive is given in the form of tractor loan where in a particular type of tractor is given 35% subsidy.
8. Do they own any animals?Yes
9. If Yes then do you run any business out of this animals?
Yes. Dairy industry: He sells 100 liters of milk ( cow , buffalo and goat ) to the collection centre in phaltan.
10. Which is the main crop that is cultivated on the land you work on?
Sugar cane mostly. Because it is cash crop.
11. The seeds used are procured from Government, Local Market, Town, City, Mandi, Research labs, Other In case of other please specify
Seeds are from local markets in phaltan.
But uses help of research lab located nearby for soil testing,to have more of sugarcane per hectare .
12. Do you have access to loans for farming If yes then who is the main lender
Yes.
He has access to loans through banks and farmer society both.
But prefers through society because of less documentation and other hassles.

13. Where do you sell your crops? Who are your customers?
There are mainly 2 places :
Shriram sahakari kharkhana
New phaltan sugar works, skharwadi at malegaon.
14. Is contract farming exist in the village? Yes No
It exists . But I don’t do it.
15. What is your view on contract farming?
He doesn’t trust people and fear loss.
16. How do you know about the daily prices of the commodities?
He is the member of farmers society which man headquarters are in phaltan. They regularly hold meetings and dscuss about daily prices. The society name is : Vividh Sahakari karya Society.
Alos every Sunday there is organisation meeting of Krushi utppanh Bazzar samiti which releases the prices to farmers.
17. What is your spending on seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, labour in an acre ?What is your profit margin for that?
15 pc profit Labour cost : 40 pc Seeds , fertilizers etc : 45 pc .

18. Do you have standby mechanism if their no proper rains or similar kind of problem arises?
There is supply of canal water once payment of water tax .
Also we use drip irrigation in case of less water .
19. Do you leveraging on science(for e.g. layering of lands for consuming less energy or similar kind of activities)
Yes. Drip irrigation.
20. Which companies organize awareness and events campaign?Maycho, United Phosphorous, IFFCO, CRIPCO, Singenta, Moncento.
None of the big companies.
21. What do you feel about hybrid seeds?
Hybrid seeds are a must.
