Estimados feligreses,

El mes de octubre está especialmente dedicado a la Santísi-

ma Virgen María y al rosario. La virtud apropiada para este

mes es la esperanza. Y la joya de octubre es el ópalo. Esta

piedra preciosa es valorada por las cuali-

dades únicas de las motas brillantes y colori-

das que brillan dentro y deleitan a cualquiera

que la vea. Lo mismo es cierto de la virtud de

la esperanza. Nos permite percibir las luces

brillantes y coloridas de la gracia de Dios, que

brillan en nuestra alma y nos inspira a seguir

viendo bondad en el futuro.

Por esta razón, la dedicación y las virtudes de

octubre pueden entenderse como un preludio

de noviembre que comienza con dos con-

memoraciones importantes: 1 de noviembre,

Día de Todos los Santos y 2 de noviembre,

Día de Todas las Almas. Los santos son luces

brillantes que iluminan nuestro camino y nos

ayudan a ver el valor final de la vida eterna y

nos mueven a orar por los fieles difuntos.

A medida que los días de octubre llegan a su fin, volvamos

nuestra atención a los primeros dos días de noviembre y

decidamos celebrar a los santos y orar por los fieles que

partieron con renovado fervor.

Concédenos, oh Señor, tu misericordia y tu bondad amorosa

Dear Parishioners,

The month of October is especially dedicated to the

Blessed Virgin Mary and the rosary. The virtue appropriate

to this month is hope. And the gem of Octo-

ber is the opal. This gemstone is valued

because of the unique qualities of bright

and colorful specks that shine within and

delight anyone who beholds it. The same is

true of the virtue of hope. It enables us to

perceive the bright and colorful lights of

God’s grace that shine within our soul and

inspires us to go forward seeing goodness

in the future.

For this reason, the dedication and virtues

of October can be understood as a prelude

to November that begins with two important

commemorations: November 1, All Saints

Day and November 2, All Souls Day. The

Saints are shining lights that brighten our

path and help us to see the ultimate value

of eternal life and move us to pray for the

faithful departed.

As the days of October come to a conclusion, let us turn

our attention to the first two days of November and resolve

to celebrate the Saints and to pray for the faithful departed

with renewed fervor.

Bestow upon us, O Lord, your mercy and unfathomable

loving kindness, that we may be freed from our sins and

serve you with all our strength. Amen.
