C 5HE collection of paintings and watercolors listed here present Mr. Tiffany

in a phase which, to most of our visitors,will be a surprising and delightful departurefrom the work with which his name is moreusually associated.

It is a far cry from memorial windows toscenes in Italy and the towns of Algiers;from the great art foundation which bearshis name to the snows of the Canadiannorthwest. And the artist in glass, thepatron of fellow-artists, might well not bean artist with the brush. Whether in glassor on canvas, however, Mr. Tiffany's art isreal, his grasp sure.

We welcome to our galleries this firstretrospective showing of a side of his workthat thus far has been too little seen inAmerican exhibitions.
