A candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, materials science, materials engineering or another science or engineering discipline related to the field OR have at least five years experience and be a practicing professional in materials science and engineering or a closely related field. Annual Dues: $120 Associate Member A candidate for associate membership shall be a person of integrity in professional activities and actively involved with materials science, materials engineering and/or application. While not possessing the academic or technical experience of a professional member, associate members must be active in fields related to the advancement of materials science and engineering and its affiliated industries. Annual Dues: $120 Life Member A candidate for life membership is a professional or associate member who wishes to make a one-time payment of dues to TMS. One-Time Dues: $1,800 Retired Member A candidate for retired membership shall be a person of integrity who is fully retired from his/her career in the materials science and engineering field (including consulting). Additionally, this candidate must be 66 years-of-age or older and possess 20 years of continuous TMS membership. Annual Dues: $60 Reinstatement Members who may have allowed their dues to lapse may be reinstated into the same membership grade as when they left by submitting a new application and paying the current dues. If the applicant wishes to have the original year of joining TMS reflected, back dues must be paid to date (half the annual dues for each year of lapsed membership); otherwise, the membership year will be the year of reinstatement. Application Process The TMS membership year begins January 1 and ends December 31. Applications received between January 1 and August 31 will be processed for the current calendar year. Applications received after August 31 will be processed for the remainder of the current calendar year and the entire following year. Two weeks are required for processing of complete applications submitted with payment. Incomplete applications cannot be processed. Membership Requirements

Full MemberA candidate for professional membership shall be a person of integrity in professional activities and actively involved with materials science, materials engineering and/or application.
