With the theme “RetailNEXT: The new wave of People, Products & Processes”, MRF 2019 witnessed leaders, visionaries, innovators, change-makers and disruptors share their views on topics ranging from technology to talent, seamless to sustainability…and everything in between.

“Growth and change – despite existing challenges – building relationships and trust – with brands and landlords – along with digital transformation were
some of the big focus areas for us in 2019,” said Mark Tesseyman, CEO, LIWA Trading Enterprises.
Cost of customer acquisition is quite high in the regional market, owing to oversaturation.
“Thus, CRM (customer relationship management) is a huge focus area for us,” Shames Al Hashemi,
Director – Member of Board, Dual Investments said.
Girard Moussa, director of CX at SAP, said, “We have invested over $15 billion on creating
the right CX (customer experience) for our partners over the past five years, and it remains
a big investment area for us in 2019.
“A fresh retail offer – notwithstanding the online-offline debate – tends to do well for the
business and that’s why we are redeveloping our retail offer at the Dubai Duty Free (DDF),”
said the airport retailer’s COO, Ramesh Cidambi.
“Product is the key focus area and within this developing a sustainable range of product has been
crucial,” shared Raza Beig, CEO of high street fashion brand Splash and director of retail conglomerate
Landmark Group.
“We have taken our technology and data to the next level to take our customer service to the next level.
The aim is to improve our supply chain to continue being the go-to destination for everything mother, baby and child,” shared Leena Khalil, co-founder of
e-commerce player Mumzworld.
“We set a lofty goal of doubling people selling on our platform. Once the closets were unlocked,
we also doubled sales in the US, alongside the UAE.” shared Kunal Kapoor. Founder, The Luxury Closet
