"For this reason a man shall leave his father and
mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall
become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one

RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD WEDDING POLICY Congratulations on your engagement! We promise to do everything within our power to make your special day
beautiful. Please visit our website www.resurrectphila.org to arrange for your upcoming wedding here at our
church. You are able to choose between a wedding ceremony or a Wedding Mass. The earliest wedding on Fri-
days is at 3PM. On Saturdays, weddings may be scheduled anytime between 9AM and 2PM. Non-parishioners are most
welcomed here for their wedding day. One party must be Catholic and both parties must be free to marry.
St. Vincent de Paul Society ~ Clothing Drive
Resurrection of Our Lord Parish will be hosting a clothing drive Tuesday, October 16th from 9AM-2PM.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society will be using the services of GreenDrop to support their clothing drive. Look
for the GreenDrop truck in the parking lot where an attendant will be available to assist you with your dona-
tions. Please place your donations of usable men’s, women’s and children’s clothing in plastic bags or boxes. House-
hold items such as kitchenware, games/toys, small appliances under 50 pounds, electronics, sporting goods, books, CDs
& videos are also accepted. Furniture, large appliances, TVs or computer monitors cannot be accepted. For a full
list of acceptable items visit www.gogreendrop.com.
Friends,
Let me start by thanking everyone who helped to make our Oktoberfest a success this weekend. Thank
you to everyone who donated items, money and time. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket or a
raffle chance to support our school.
I also want to thank our weekend speaker from “Generation-Life”. Gen-Life is an incredible organization that works so
hard to promote a healthy culture of life in our world. It is especially inspiring to see young people courageously stand
up for life. Thank you for welcoming and supporting this organization.
Next weekend will be our first ever “Involvement Weekend”. Around our church you will find many different poster
boards displaying our various parish groups and ministries. I would encourage every person who belongs here to
become involved in something. If we really are a parish family then we really need everyone committed and involved in
this family. Some of these ministries and groups are weekly commitments, others are monthly commitments and some
are just one-time annual events. Please commit to being a part of something here at YOUR parish.

National Fire Prevention Week
Fire was the great scourge of American cities in the 19th century. As the country's population grew, com-
pressed tenements and multistory factories posed a growing risk to life and property if fire struck.
Insurers and municipalities worked together to protect public safety. Even with the vastly improved building codes of
today, fire safety remains a concern. Protect your family by following these simple steps:
1) Install working smoke alarms in your home, AND change the batteries twice a year.
2) Do not overload circuits by the use of multiple extension cords. Always inspect extension cords for wear and never
place them under rugs or mats.
3) Do not leave burning candles unattended. Always extinguish them when you leave a room.
4) When cooking, do not leave stoves unattended.
5) Never barbecue in a garage or other enclosed structure.
6) Have a home fire extinguisher; know how to use it; and check it regularly to ensure that it is still charged.
7) Always call 911 in the event of a fire. Never presume that you can handle it yourself.
