Address the cover letter to the principal. Go to the schools website and findthe exact spelling of the principals name and the address of the school.

distinguishes you from other candidates. For example, extensive student teachingexperience with ELL students, an unusual success rate with previously poor
performing students.

Focus on a strength particular to the subject or grade level(s) you are applying for.
For example, personal writing skillsEnglish teacher; training in several methods
of teaching readingECE K-3; technology skillsany.
Paragraph Four: In two or three sentences, reveal personal qualities,
achievements, experiences that make you the best candidate. For example,
extensive travel, willingness to coach a sport or sponsor a club, extreme
enthusiasm for teaching middle school.

consideration, an invitation to contact you for an interview, and willingness to
interview at the principals convenience.
If you use multiple copies of the cover letter, sign each individually and legibly.

Characteristics of a Good ResumeApplication for First Teaching Position
1. Include your complete address, phone number (at which you may be
most easily reached), email address.
2. A one-page resume is preferred; a two-page resume is acceptable. A
two-page resume should have your name on the second page.
3. An organized, balanced text looks best. Font size should be 12, no
smaller than 10. Font type should be clean, and easy to readArial,
Garamond, Times New Roman.
4. Use white or off-white paper. No colors.
5. Be consistent in display techniques, punctuation, and verb tense.
6. Using phrases and splinter sentences is acceptable. Bulleted items
stand out and are a good way to highlight important information.
The above tips come from the Career Services Center,
Kennesaw Hall. For more tips and suggestions on resumes
and interview strategies, set up an appointment now with
