+ EXPERIENCES
2013 – PRESENT
(LESS THAN A YEAR)
Training Development Officer at Singapore Armed Forces
SEPTEMBER 2009 – DECEMBER 2011
( 2 YEARS 4 MONTHS)
Company Commander, Support Company, 4th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment At Singapore Armed Forces
As a company commander, I had the privilege of leading 199 soldiers. My command philosophy was simple - the only form of Leadership is Leadership by Example.
This allowed me to lead the company to deliver on the key performance indicators set out for us. Of these, I gained the most satisfaction from achieving the best fitness results in the Battalion, with 100% of the company achieving a minimum of IPPT silver, as this contributed greatly to the Battalion's excellent IPPT score in the Best Unit Competition results in 2012.
AUGUST 2007 – SEPTEMBER 2009
(2 YEARS 2 MONTHS)
Course Commander, Combat Intelligence School at Singapore Armed Forces
As a course commander, I was exposed to the basics of learning science and the methods of instruction commonly used. The time spent as a course commander and instructor also played an important role in crystallising my decision to pursue training and development (T&D) as well as the development of ecosystems to support T&D as part of my professional development.
MAY 2006 – AUGUST 2007
(1 YEAR 4 MONTHS)
Platoon Commander, Scout Platoon, Support Company, 4th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment at Singapore Armed Forces
The experience of leading the Scout Platoon provided me with experience of leading high performance work teams at the tactical level.
JANUARY 2002 – AUGUST 2002
(8 MONTHS)
Company 2IC, OPFOR Company, Army Training and Evaluation Centre at Singapore Armed Forces
I was given the opportunity to serve as Company 2IC. In this capacity, I assisted the Ofcer Commanding in drafting training programs, and co-ordinating resources and activities at the company level. The key lessons that I learnt in these 8 months were the key role of logistics in supporting any operation or training activity, and the importance of open communication.

APRIL 2001 – DECEMBER 2001
(9 MONTHS)
Platoon Commander, OPFOR Company, Army Training and Evaluation Centre at Singapore Armed Forces This was my first appointment after receiving my commission as an Ofcer in the Singapore Armed Forces. The main challenge I faced in this appointment was maintaining morale, and the key lessons learnt in this period were that Leadership by example is a critical motivator, and that every soldier matters everyday.

PACC and PAMS are military conferences co-hosted by the United States Army Pacific Command (PACOM) and another co-host from the Asia Pacific region. In 2011, the conference was co-hosted by US PACOM and the Singapore Army, and was held in Singapore. As the cue-master for the Opening Ceremony, my task was to develop the concept for the opening ceremony, co-ordinate program sequences, rehearsals and logistical setup of the venue, and the overall execution of the Opening Ceremony activities. This project gave me immense satisfaction as I was able to see through the task from conceptualisation to successful execution.
MAY 2010 – AUGUST 2010
(4 MONTHS)
Back Of House / Area IC, Show Committee, Singapore Youth Olympic Games Opening And Closing Ceremonies 2010
http://www.singapore2010.sg/public/sg2010/en.html
My task in this project was to co-ordinate entry of the various elements performing in the Opening Ceremony as well as area management of the back-of-house during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. To accomplished this, I managed a team of 30. On my part, this was a challenge in co-ordination, training and logistics. The project challenged and strengthened my ability to facilitate teamwork through provision of clear guidelines, engendering an environment of open communication. It also emphasised the importance of systems thinking to overcome complex operations.
