Why resume cover letters are often skipped over and not used, might have to do with not understanding the value in their use. Or it could simply be, that it's easier not to include one.

Regardless of the reason for omitting the resume cover letter, it is possibly the key to getting the job interview, if not the job. It may not be seen as a critical step in job hunting, but not using one is probably why your resume is not seen, and why you are not seen.

See what I mean?

This one page (even half page) of words, if properly crafted, is what gets the attention of the employer. With the job markets as they are, the competition for each and every job is fierce and competitive. In order to be noticed, a resume letter is vital.

• No spelling or typing errors. Not even one.• Address it to the person who can hire you.• Get the title and name spelled correctly.• Write in your own voice.• Stay focused and on purpose.• No spelling or typing errors. Most people put the emphasis on the resume, and while important, a great resume without a proper letter is not as effective as, a mediocre resume with one. The resume cover letter is an opportunity for your personality and strengths to shine.

Look at the resume cover letter as the sales letter that sells the employer on the importance of getting you in for an interview, now. You will use a layout that has a headline, bullet points, and key phrases in all the right places. You will want to incorporate language that is proven to get the phone dialed, asking you to come in.

You may be the ideal person for the job, be the most experienced, have great references, and even be a great person. Your resume probably reflects this and yet, the interviews are not happening. Why? You just need a simple well crafted sales letter, featuring you.

The employers in today's job market have easy pickins from an over saturated pool of "qualified" applicants. It's not likely that this will change anytime soon. But, people are getting hired, it's just not you. Change that. You know the old "if you keep doing what you've been doing, then..." Well, change that.

To be clear: A well written resume cover letter can make the difference between going months on end without a job, and getting a flood of phone calls asking you to interview, even if you are 15 yrs older, lacking experience, or have a lack luster resume. That's the secret... that's the difference! If you would like to learn more about the best ways to create great cover letters that get the job, just Click Here.
