Dear hiring manager:
I am fascinated in your computer science summer internship program. I am very interested in this
opportunity. I would love to create practical programs that will benefit the customers or the workers. I
am a candidate with a strong academic background and a passion for computer science. I am confident
that I could make a positive and productive contribution to your organization.
I am currently a third year student in the Computer Science Program at Georgia State University, and am
looking for a summer internship in the state of Georgia. I have been selected to the Dean’s List last
semester for my academic excellence. I specialize in Java and have a great understanding of classes,
methods, parameters, objects, loops, databases, and recursions. One of my programs that I have made
solves expressions by converting the expression from infix to postfix using stack. It sends each character
to a method that determines if it is a number or an operator and has a different response depending on
the input by using switch case. At the end, the user can substitute the variable with a value to solve the
expression. The program can also spot user errors such as having two operators back to back or having
an illegal character. I have also created a tournament program that made each team into objects that
keeps track of team names, wins and losses. Another program I have made is one that can output the
prefix, infix, or postfix of an expression in a binary tree using a recursive method. In my software
engineering course, I have experience in working with groups, creating use cases, and meeting
deadlines.
I would like to meet with you to further discuss my credentials in an interview. I can be contacted at the
phone number and e-mail address listed above. Thank you for your time and interest. I look forward to
hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Kenny Nguyen
