For any requirements specific to yourState or Tribe, consult the agency responsible for pesticide regulation.Insect Resistance ManagementFor resistance management, MUSTANG® Insecticide contains a Group3A insecticide. Any insect population may contain individuals naturallyresistant to MUSTANG Insecticide and other Group 3A insecticides. Theresistant individuals may dominate the insect population if this group ofinsecticides is used repeatedly in the same fields. Appropriateresistance-management strategies should be followed. To delayinsecticide resistance, take the following steps:• Rotate the use of MUSTANG Insecticide or other Group 3Ainsecticides within a growing season, or among growing seasons,with different groups that control the same pests.

• Use tank mixtures with insecticides from a different group that areequally effective on the target pest when such use is permitted. Donot rely on the same mixture repeatedly for the same pestpopulation. Consider any known cross-resistance issues (for thetargeted pests) between the individual components of a mixture. Inaddition, consider the following recommendations provided by theInsecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC):o Individual insecticides selected for use in mixtures should behighly effective and be applied at the rates at which they areindividually registered for use against the target species.

o Mixtures with components having the same IRAC mode of actionclassification are not recommended for insect resistancemanagement.

o When using mixtures, consider any known cross-resistanceissues between the individual components for the targeted pests.

o Mixtures become less effective if resistance is already developingto one or both active ingredients, but they may still provide pestmanagement benefits.

o The insect resistance management benefits of an insecticidemixture are greatest if the two components have similar periods ofresidual insecticidal activity. Mixtures of insecticides with unequalperiods of residual insecticidal activity may offer an insectresistance management benefit only for the period where bothinsecticides are active.

• Adopt an integrated pest management program for insecticides thatincludes scouting, uses historical information related to pesticideuse, crop rotation, record keeping, and which considers cultural,biological, and other chemical control practices.

• Monitor after application for unexpected target pest survival. If thelevel of suggests the presence of resistance, consult with your localuniversity specialist or certified pest control advisor.

• Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors forany additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPMrecommendations for the specific site and pest problems in yourarea.

AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSUse this product only in accordance with its labeling and with theWorker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. This Standardcontains requirements for the protection of agricultural workers onfarms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses, and handlers ofagricultural pesticides. It contains requirements for training,decontamination, notification, and emergency assistance. It alsocontains specific instructions and exceptions pertaining to thestatements on this label about personal protective equipment (PPE)and restricted-entry interval. The requirements in this box only applyto uses of this product that are covered by the Worker ProtectionStandard.Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during therestricted entry interval (REI) of 12 hours.PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted underthe Worker Protection Standard and that involves contact withanything that has been treated, such as plants, soil, or water, is:Coveralls, Chemical-resistant gloves, made of Barrier Laminate orViton, and Shoes plus socks.

Chemigation Use DirectionsApply this product only through sprinkler including center pivot, lateralmove, end tow, side (wheel) roll, traveler, big gun, solid set, or handmove irrigation systems. Do not apply this product through any othertype of irrigation system. Do not connect any irrigation system (includinggreenhouse systems) used for pesticide application to a public watersystem.Crop injury, lack of effectiveness, or illegal residues in the crop canresult from nonuniform distribution of treated water. If you havequestions about calibration, you should contact State Extension Servicespecialists, equipment manufacturers, or other experts. A personknowledgeable of the chemigation system and responsible for itsoperation, or under the supervision of the responsible person, shall shutthe system down and make necessary adjustments should the needarise.The system must contain a functional check valve, vacuum relief valve,and low pressure drain appropriately located on the irrigation pipeline toprevent water source contamination from backflow.The pesticide injection pipeline must also contain a functional,automatic, quick-closing check valve to prevent the flow of fluid backtoward the injection pump.The pesticide injection pipeline must also contain a functional, normallyclosed, solenoid-operated valve located on the intake side of theinjection pump and connected to the system interlock to prevent fluidfrom being withdrawn from the supply tank when the irrigation system iseither automatically or manually shut down.The system must contain functional interlocking controls toautomatically shut off the pesticide injection pump when the water pumpmotor stops.The irrigation line or water pump must include a functional pressureswitch which will stop the water pump motor when the water pressuredecreases to the point where pesticide distribution is adversely affected.Systems must use a metering pump, such as a positive displacementinjection pump (e.g., diaphragm pump) effectively designed andconstructed of materials that are compatible with pesticides andcapable of being fitted with a system interlock.MUSTANG Insecticide should be applied continuously for the durationof the water application. MUSTANG Insecticide should be diluted insufficient volume to insure accurate application over the area to betreated. Use the appropriate amount of water to carry the product to thetarget pest. Agitation is not required when a suitable diluent is used.

BUFFER ZONESVegetative Buffer ZonesConstruct and maintain a minimum 10-foot-wide vegetative filter strip ofgrass or other permanent vegetation between the field edge and downgradient aquatic habitat (such as, but not limited to, lakes; reservoirs;rivers; permanent streams; marshes or natural ponds; estuaries; andcommercial fish farm ponds).Only apply products containing zeta-cypermethrin onto fields where amaintained vegetative buffer strip of at least 10 feet exists between thefield and down gradient aquatic habitat.For guidance, refer to the following publication for information onconstructing and maintaining effective buffers: Conservation Buffers toReduce Pesticide Losses. Mist or fog may indicate the presence ofan inversion in humid areas. The applicator may detect the presence ofan inversion by producing smoke and observing a smoke layer near theground surface. Smoke that layers and moves laterally indicates aninversion.Droplet SizeUse only Medium or coarser spray nozzles (for ground and non-ULVaerial application) according to ASABE (S572.1) definition for standardnozzles. In conditions of low humidity and high temperatures,applicators should use a coarser droplet size.Additional Requirements for Ground ApplicationsWind speed must be measured adjacent to the application site on theupwind side, immediately prior to application.For ground boom applications, apply using a nozzle height of no morethan 4 feet above the ground or crop canopy.For airblast applications, turn off outward pointing nozzles at row endsand when spraying the outer two rows. To minimize spray loss over thetop in orchard applications, spray must be directed into the canopy.Additional Requirements for Aerial ApplicationsThe spray boom should be mounted on the aircraft as to minimize driftcaused by wingtip or rotor votices. The minimum practical boom lengthshould be used and must not exceed 75% of the wing span or 80% rotordiameter.Flight speed and nozzle orientation must be considered in determiningdroplet size.Spray must be released at the lowest height consistent with pest controland flight safety. Do not release spray at a height greater than 10 feetabove the crop canopy unless a greater height is required for aircraftsafety.When applications are made with a cross-wind, the swath will bedisplaced downwind. The applicator must compensate for thisdisplacement at the downwind edge of the application area by adjustingthe path of the aircraft upwind.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSUse low rate under light to moderate infestation. Higher listed ratesshould be used under heavy insect pressure. The rate of application isvariable according to insect pressure, timing of spray and field scouting.Do not exceed maximum allowable rate.Under hot and dry conditions, increase the spray volume and addappropriate spray adjuvant, but only to those crops which havepreviously demonstrated a tolerance to the adjuvant(s) under theseconditions.

Preventive UseFor cutworm, armyworm, or stalk borer control, MUSTANG Insecticidemay be applied before, during, or after planting. For soil-incorporatedapplications, use higher rates for improved control. STORAGE AND DISPOSALDo not contaminate water, food, or feed, or other pesticides orfertilizers by storage and disposal.Pesticide StorageDo not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Store inoriginal containers only. Store in a cool, dry place and avoid excessheat. Carefully open containers. After partial use, replace lids andclose tightly. Do not put concentrate or dilute material into food ordrink containers.In case of spill, avoid contact, isolate area and keep out animalsand unprotected persons. Confine spills. Call CHEMTREC(Transportation and Spills): (800) 424-9300.To confine spill: Dike surrounding area or absorb with sand, catlitter, or commercial clay. Place damaged package in a holdingcontainer. Identify contents.Pesticide DisposalWastes resulting from the use of this product may be disposed ofon site or at an approved waste disposal facility.Container Handling - Nonrefillable Container. Do not reuse orrefill this container. Triple rinse container (or equivalent) promptlyafter emptying. Triple rinse as follows:For containers equal to 5 gallons or less: Empty the remainingcontents into application equipment or a mix tank and drain for 10seconds after the flow begins to drip. Fill the container 1/4 full withwater and recap. Shake for 10 seconds. Pour rinsate intoapplication equipment or a mix tank or store rinsate for later use ordisposal. Drain for 10 seconds after the flow begins to drip. Repeatthis procedure two more times. For containers greater than 5 gallons: Empty the remainingcontents into application equipment or a mix tank. Fill the container1/4 full with water. Replace and tighten closures. Tip container onits side and roll it back and forth, ensuring at least one completerevolution, for 30 seconds. Stand the container on its end and tip itback and forth several times. Turn the container over onto its otherend and tip it back and forth several times. Empty the rinsate intoapplication equipment or a mix tank or store rinsate for later use ordisposal. Repeat this procedure two more times. Then offer forrecycling if available or reconditioning if appropriate, or punctureand dispose of in a sanitary landfill, or incineration, or, if allowed bystate and local authorities, by burning. If burned, stay out of smoke.Refillable/Returnable Container: Refill this container withpesticide only. Do not reuse this container for any other purpose.Cleaning the container before final disposal is the responsibility ofthe person disposing of the container. Cleaning before refilling isthe responsibility of the refiller. To clean the container before finaldisposal, empty the remaining contents from this container intoapplication equipment or mix tank. Fill the container about 10% fullwith water. Agitate vigorously or recirculate water with the pump for2 minutes. Pour or pump rinsate into application equipment orrinsate collection system. Repeat this rinsing procedure two moretimes. Then offer for recycling if available or reconditioning ifappropriate, or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill, orincineration, or, if allowed by state and local authorities, by burning.If burned, stay out of smoke.
