Transcript of Restoration project
A big restoration project I did in 2013. An incomplete ebauché movement dating back to late 1800‘s,
had to be built into functional state. Several components had to be made since many of them were
missing, broken or damaged, such as the cannon pinion (with a "chevillot" driving pin system), the
hour wheel, the winding stem, the balance cap jewel plate and a Breguet hairspring. Many other
components had to be modified for proper function since they were incomplete; most notably in the
winding and setting mechanism and the mainplate. The movement had to be completely adjusted,
finished, cleaned and oiled. A custom made, entirely hand made silver case and sapphire crystal dial
was made as well (both outsourced). Lastly, I made the hands from scratch, from a block of German
silver. This restoration project took nearly 3 months to complete.
These photos show only part of the work that was done.
