LigiaNoronha,Director,EconomyDivision,UNEnvironment(UNEP)

Ligia Noronha was appointed Director of UNEP, Division ofTechnology, Industry and Economics (DTIE - now known asEconomy Division) in April 2014. Since her appointment, she hasguided UN Environment, Economy Division in delivering itsmandate of promoting environmental sustainability throughtechnology, industry, and economic policy, and has led theimplementation of three of UN Environment seven sub-programmes, namely climate change, chemicals and waste, andresourceefficiency.

PriortojoiningUNEnvironment,LigiaNoronhaservedinTheEnergyandResourcesInstitute(TERI)as Executive Director of Research Coordination and as Director of the Resources, Regulation andGlobal SecurityDivision. From2005 to 2011 she served as Secretaryof theAsian Energy Instituteand,from2005to2009,asCoordinatoroftheRenewableEnergyandEnergyEfficiencyPartnerships(REEEP),SouthAsia. CasperSonesson,GlobalPolicyAdviserforExtractiveIndustriesandSustainableDevelopment,UnitedNationsDevelopmentProgramme(UNDP)

Casper Sonesson is Global Policy Advisor for Extractive Industries andsustainable development at the UNDP, a position he has held since late2014.Before thathe servedasDeputyDirectorofPrivateSectoratUNDPsince2008.Priortothis,heworkedforoveradecadetoshapeanddevelopUNDP’sengagementwiththeprivatesectoracrossarangeofdevelopmentareas, including economic development and job creation, environmentalsustainabilityandcrisispreventionandrecovery.

Casper has also worked extensively on private sector development, smallenterprise development and microfinance. From 2011 – 2014 he served as a member on theExecutiveCommitteeoftheDonorCommitteeforEnterpriseDevelopment.

MichalSpiechowicz,PolicyOfficer-Rawmaterials,Directorate-GeneralforInternalMarket,Industry,EntrepreneurshipandSMEs(DGGROW),EuropeanCommission

Michal Spiechowicz is a Policy Officer in Unit 2. Resource Efficiency and RawMaterials in Dir. C – Industrial Transformation and Advanced Value Chains inDeputyDirectorGeneral1ofDGGROW.

Michal isresponsibleforthepoliciesofDGGROWinthefieldofaccesstorawmaterials.Michalspecialisesinthedevelopmentofvisuallysynergieswithmoreenvironmentally friendly policies, such as NATURA2000. He is also involved inthe management of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materialsprogramme.

In2001-2005MichalworkedasaconsultantoninformationsystemsinFrankfurtandinMunich,andsince2005 intheEuropeanCommission inthefieldof internationalpolitics forcompetitivenessofenterprises.MichalholdsadegreeineconomicsfromtheEuropeanUniversityViadrina,FrankfurtanderOder.

Dr. Sanoussi Bilal is a Senior Executive and the Head the EconomicTransformation and Trade programme at the ECDPM in Maastricht, theNetherlands and in Brussels, Belgium, where he is based. With abackground in economics and international relations, he has a PhD ininternational economics from the University of Birmingham (UnitedKingdom), a Master from the Graduate Institute of International andDevelopment Studies in Geneva, and a Bachelor in Economics from theUniversityofGeneva(Switzerland).

Before joiningECDPM,heworkedat theOverseasDevelopment Institute(United Kingdom), the European Institute of Public Administration (the Netherlands) and theEconomicsDepartmentof theUniversityofGeneva.His expertise relatesmainly toeconomic andtrade issuesfor inclusivegrowth,regional integrationprocessesanddevelopment,withafocusonAfricaandtheACP-EUrelations(includingeconomicpartnershipagreements).

His current activities focus on the structural transformation dynamics in Africa and financing fordevelopment,andincludeprojectsontradeanddevelopment;sustainableglobalvaluechains;EPAs;dynamicsofregionalintegrationprocessesinAfrica;aidfortrade;privatesectoranddevelopment;economic diplomacy; (resource-based) industrialisation; and emerging players in Africa. He is theauthor of numerous publications, as well as the founding editor of themagazine GREAT Insightsdedicatedtogovernance,regionalintegration,agricultureandtradematters.SanisalsoaFellowattheWestAfricanInstitute.
