10 Week Writing Workshops

Community Readings
Write Around Portland provides:
• trained and skilled writing workshop facilitators
• all materials, including journals, pens, bus tickets, snacks and weekly personalized postcards
• scribes, childcare providers and disability accommodations as needed
• books for all workshop participants and Agency Partners
Agency Partners:• actively recruit and sign up
workshop participants
• provide the physical space for the workshop
• pay a partner fee to help cover workshop costs
Since 1999, more than 200 Agency Partners, including:
• Providence Integrated Cancer Center• Independent Living Resources
•Serenity Palliative Care & Hospice with Emerson House
•Quest Center for Integrative Health• Cascade AIDS Project
• Speak EZ Aphasia Support Group
• physical and mental health benefits• an increased sense of community,
reduction in isolation• improvement in writing, listening,
communication skills• inspiration to complete GEDs, attend
college, stick with treatment programs• increased confidence and self esteem
