Resource Libraries & Research Centers

Ancestry Library Edition

Appleton, Brown County, and Oshkosh Public Libraries serve as resource libraries for the area and all have extensive collections of local history & genealogy material for use at the library.

The Wisconsin Historical Society and the University of Wisconsin System cooperate in a network of Area Re-search Centers (ARCs) located at UW campus libraries throughout the state, including UW Green Bay, UW Stevens Point, & UW Oshkosh. These resources are free and open to the public although it is advised to call before visiting.

Libraries are great sources for historical records including city directories, atlases and plat maps, vital records, old newspapers, census records, personal narratives, local histories and much more.
