Activities11th January 2014 - Tumpek Kandang ritual ceremonyThe Hindus make a ritual on Tumpek Kandang to venerate the Almighty
God as Shiva or Pasupati, which maintains all beings in this universe. The
worship is manifested by giving thanksgiving ceremony to all animals,
particularly cattle.
15th January 2014 - Full Moon ceremonyAs temple ceremonies (odalan) often fall on the full moon, it is likely that
the celebration will be a large one, attracting thousands of worshippers
who make their way to the temple balancing towers of fruit and sweet
cakes on their heads. Balinese families will be dressed in their best temple
garb on these days - special, joyous occasions filled with prayer, gamelan
music, dance, and catching up with friends and family.

Siwaratri in Balinese beliefsOn Wednesday 29th January 2014 Balinese celebrate the Siwaratri day
which falls every one day before Tilem Sasih Kepitu or the new moon in Bali.
Siwaratri came from word Shiva or God / Lord Shiva and ratri or night which
has a meaning night of Lord Shiva / God. This day is a good time for people
to reflect on life in the past as well as the conscious / mindful the sins,
either intentionally or unintentionally.
On this day, Balinese do the Upawasa or fasting for 24 hours. This method
is to reach self-control in respect with not to be selfish and greedy. Then
continued with Monabrata or silence for 12 hours for reminds us to always
speak fair and honest words, to never lie, slander, speak evil or swear. Then
the last is Mejagra/ meditation (not sleeping) for 36 hours to teaches us to
be always care and always respect the other peoples.
Each of these activities are methods to learn to be self-conscious at all
times, to have self control in all circumstances. Starts and finished each of
them is closed with prayers and offerings in the house temple.

Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali is the first and still the ONLY hotel in Bali to be HACCP CertifiedHACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) is a globally recognised management
system in which food safety is addressed
through the analysis and control of biological,
chemical, and physical hazards from raw
material production, procurement and
handling, to manufacturing, distribution and
consumption of the finished product.
It took a lot of time, training and hard work from the resort team to get
everything in place. Every step of food preparation from purchasing to
deliverance was analysed for every loopholes where ‘danger’ could
occur and we put processes into place to prevent that. It is now a very
well oiled way of working, so strict that even the General Manager is not
allowed in the kitchen without necessary precautions and approval
from the kitchen team!
