From simple to complex filtration, all of
them require a profound analysis.
To understand “WHY” and “WHAT” will
mean having the most appropriate answer
to “cost/quality” effectiveness.
Bare in mind that filtration will always
have a cost that can be minor or major. All
depends on the end result one wishes to
obtain.
Therefore it is very important to carefully
analyse beforehand all the elements
involved that originate the need to filter.
This will no doubt help achieve the most
adequate and correct solution for each
case.
The concern of contaminated liquids are
various and have many aspects. From
everyday drinking water to industrial food
processing plants, health risk and economic
loss make filtration an extremely important
factor.
Choosing a specific filtering solution
rather than another means having well
evaluated in advance important factors.
These factors are:
• Type of liquid to be processed
• Particle size
• Dirt loading capacity
• Media permeability
• Pressure drop
• Chemical compatibility
• Temperature resistance
Other factors:
• Cost/Quality effectiveness
• Maintenance
Over the years AQUA Srl has made research
development its main goal. Finding the best
solution to the aspects of filtration can only
be achieved through heavy investments in
technology and research. We are today able
to satisfy all the market needs and
requirements.
Our new Cartridge Product Guide presents
a vast amount of filtering elements that
defer in material used and sizes. A wide
range of products, that along with our
Filter Product Guide, make us today a full
line manufacturer. All products are strictly
made in compliance to the Health &
Security regulations.
AQUA Srl exports its products in all the 5
continents, to those customers that work
in various applications and markets. A
must for those that emphasize filtration
a major role in their business activity.
Our leading role today is not only to
present a wide range but also to be able
to suggest and determine together with
our users the most appropriate solution
for any application.

PECULIAR CHARACTERISTICS:- High Depth Filtration- Constant filtration on all surface- High Yield- High resistance to compression- High Stability- Lower pressure drop- No residual or particle loss
FILTER EFFICIENCY:The FR-N Cartridges are fully tested toachieve at least 95% filtration efficiency. This means that a 10 micron FR-N Cartridgewill filter 95% of particles having adiameter of 10 micron or more. Theextraordinary filtration capability of theFR-N cartridges is obtained thanks to itswide filtering surface and compactnesswhich is distributed along all the surfaceof the cartridge itself.
The cartridges need the be changed whena loss in pressure drop is detected or inany case when the specific filteringapplication requires it.
FR-N line
Our depth cartridges FR-N Series aredesigned to obtain a high efficiency andfiltration of various liquids having impurity.Using only 100% pure polypropylene theyare manufactured through state of the arttechnology. They are generally used inapplications that require extremely highquality filtration.
During the manufacturing process, thepolypropylene is mixed with compressedhot air. Then it is stratified on a rigidpolypropylene core through a continuesand constant rotating movement. Thisprocess infuses and intersects thepolypropylene fibres amongst themselves.
This creates the so called “Depth Cartridge” guaranteeing a uniform filtration alongall the surface of the cartridge. The Polypropylene fibres used are alwaysand only of first choice which processedat high temperatures welds them togethereliminating any possibility of losingparticles or residuals.
The range vary from 1 to 90 micron andstandard lengths are 9”3/4 to 40”. Thecartridges are made up as one whole pieceno matter what length.

MELT BLOWN CARTRIDGES series FR-E
MICRON
Our FR-E series, is a break through in technology granting an interesting option to our consolidated and outstanding FR-N series. Because of our met-blown fabricationand procedure, these FR-E series grant a true comprise for those applications that require a just Price/Quality performance ratio.During the manufacturing phase, and without the essence of the internal core, these cartridges grant a perfect and compact resistance of filtration.Although an economical comprise, the soul element of these cartridge allow an exceptional performance when compared to the standard abundance supplied bycompetitors:
• Consistency• Faithful retention of contaminates• Well meaning to compression• Contained pressure loss
Thanks to the method of fabrication and experience gained with our exceptional FRN series, this series offer a mere absence of particle media loss.Vast chemical compatibility because made only with 100% pure polypropylene, insuring nearly infinite applicationsLaboratory tests show that this series are guaranteed to give at least 80% efficiency of stated particle size confirming its perfect price/quality ratio.

The yarn’s appearance is uniform, homogenous and very strong. This willallow a very compact construction of thecartridge itself and through a precisepattern mounting, it will achieveremarkable increase in the filtration surface. Therefore as a consequence, an increasein cartridge life. All this to achieve a higherfiltration efficiency at an excellentcost/quality ratio.
Wound Cartridge Open-end Wash– Oil residual 0,2%This yarn is manufactured using machinerythat allows a shorter production periodand therefore a more economically pricedproduct. The raw material used for thisproduct is exactly the same as the WashCarded type. The only difference is that itis not carded after the process of extrusion& twist but simple manufactured arounda BCF (by extrusion spun yarn) making itcompact and uniform. Although lesscompact than the carded one, it still yieldsa satisfying filtration performance at lowercosts. Amongst the inconveniences of thiscartridge is that at the beginning of use

Our Polypropylene wound cartridges arepart of the depth and deforming cartridgeseries. They are manufactured using only 100%pure non-toxic polypropylene yarn. Thisseries offers an excellent ratio betweencost/quality, even though usually referredto as “economic-type” they aremanufactured so as to guarantee a highnominal filtration level. In this series we have 2 main types ofWound PP Cartridges
Wound Cartridge Carded Wash– Oil residual 0,07%Because of its characteristics, this washcarded yarn is of superior quality. It ismanufactured using only first choice rawmaterials and during the process ofextrusion & twist it undergoes a washtreatment at very high temperatureseliminating oil residuals used beforehandof the manufacturing process itself. Toincrease its resistance, it is then cardedand no further oils are added thusguaranteeing a completely non-toxicnatural polypropylene yarn.

it creates a small amount of foam thatafter a short period will disappear. Even ifthe foam is non-toxic, in certainapplications it could cause minor problemsto the post-filtration unit. Therefore it isimportant to know were such cartridgewill be applied to avoid any inconvenience.
The inside core of the filter is rigid and inPolypropylene which guarantees stability. The lengths range from 4” to 40” and themicron range from 1 to 100.

surface filtering
This results in a longer life and majorefficiency.
The Polyester cartridges, contrary toCellulose types, can be reused over andover again without loss of efficiency. It isobvious though that the life of thesecartridges depend on the workingconditions. Even though the maintenanceis frequent, It is recommended not to usesuch cartridges under extreme conditions.Due to the fact that bacteria willundoubtedly grow and nest within thefibre, simply washing a cartridge does notmean it will last forever. Therefore as all washable cartridges, it isrecommended to frequently change themin order to guarantee a safe filtration. Thanks to its compatibility with a vastnumbers of chemicals, polyester can beused also in specific applications whereother materials are not compatible withreagents and/or chemical solvents.
Regarding the applications of Polyesterand Cellulose cartridges, these areparticularly adequate for use in potablewater because the raw materials used arecompatible.
CE-PL line
Pleated cartridges represent a valid filteringsolution for diverse applications.
Certified raw materials are used and haveparticular technical characteristics thatgive the cartridge reliability and resistance.
An important factor of quality is themechanical resistance. In both cases ofPolyester or Cellulose cartridges, theresistance is given by using 100% pureendless fibres.
After pleating, which takes into accountfixed parameters (pleats dimensions andquantity) that guarantee maximumefficiency, the element is mounted arounda polypropylene rigid core thus assuringstability. It is then all placed inside apolypropylene cage which both ends areclosed by end caps.
The pleated cartridge allows a vast filteringsurface while the PP cage has symmetricslots along all the surface of the cage itselftherefore allowing the water to flowequally along all the sides of the cartridgeand avoiding the water penetrating justone specific area.

The washable Net Cartridges are calledsurface cartridges and have a non-deforming structure.
The inside core is manufactured using TalcFilled Polypropylene and a nylon net iswelded.
The homogenous Net has physical andmechanical characteristics. The squaremesh allows a uniform flow along all thesurface of the cartridge itself thusminimizes the possibility of clogging.Manufactured using monofilament fibresthat enable uniform openings It also allowsan accurate capacity of filtration whileavoiding pressure drop.
Also thanks to Its smooth surface it is veryeasy to wash and non shedding.
The washable net cartridges give a nominalfiltration with efficiency of 80%. Whenproperly utilized, they can be used overand over again maintaining a constantefficiency.

surface filtration
The Stainless steel net has a specialstructure called REPS that thanks to itscharacteristics makes it very strong andof high filtering efficiency. All end capsare electrically welded and no resin orglues are used.
Pleated stainless steel cartridges, seriesACP can withstand pressures of 6 barswithout deforming. In any case it is alwayssuggested not to exceed 3 bars.
All stainless steel cartridges are washableand therefore can be used time and timeagain. It can be done by backwashing themor washed with special chemicals.
APPLICATIONS:Water Treatment,Food and beverage, Oil, Alimentary, SyrupsGeneral Industries, Paint, resins,Bulk chemicals/Petrochemicals, polymer,fuel, lubricant,Sewage water.
AC-ACP line
Stainless steel net cartridges are so-called“surface cartridges” with non deformingstructure.
They are well indicated for difficultapplications such as filtering of corrosiveliquids or were high temperatures apply.
They are available in the following versions.- Series AC; non-pleated stainless steel
with end caps in polypropylene- Series AC-HT; non-pleated stainless steel
with end caps in stainless steel- Series ACP; pleated stainless steel with
end caps in stainless steel
Because of its structure, stainless steel hasno particle migration therefore especiallysuitable for those applications weredrinkable water is being processed.
Being pleated, the ACP series grant a muchhigher surface of filtration in the amountof 4 times a standard AC version whichare non-pleated. Therefore they are moreefficient when high flow is required andwere a high percentage of contaminatedparticles are present in the liquid itself.

carbon cartridges
- Pre-FiltrationTreatment of water beforehand, througha pre-filtration action which permits afirst treatment of the water itselfallowing a longer life to the cartridge
- Absorption performance of the carbonIt is determined by the quality andquantity of carbon used. Also the contacttime has a very important impact on thefinal result. In fact the longer the waterremains in contact with the carbon (flowrate) the stronger the carbon adsorptioneffect will be, thus purifying the water.
- Post-FiltrationTreatment of water after hand, througha post-filtration action which permits afurther treatment of the water itself andeliminating any suspended carbonresiduals
Having all three the above elements willno doubt reduce the flow rate. This meansa better performance of the processbecause it optimises the active carbonaction. Active carbon will in the endsaturate and the life time depends on howthe cartridge is being used. We highlyrecommend following the instructions onour data sheet relevant to each type ofcarbon cartridge.
CA-GAC line
These Cartridges act by means of aphysicochemical property of the activecarbon (adsorption) and in some casesassociated with the filtration action ofvarious filtering materials.AQUA uses various active granulatedcarbon, suggesting the mostappropriate types according to theconditions and diverse needs of filteringrequired. Our active granulated carbonextracted from vegetable coco fruit hascharacteristics that are very suitablefor treating water in general.
These active carbon cartridges have thefollowing specifications:Grain Hardness
= Insignificance presence of CarbonPowder Residuals.
Very high surface filtration area (up to 1500m2/gr)
= High Adsorption= Longer life
Very high Holding Capacity= High Adsorption
Insignificant presence of ash= Less impurity
The general characteristics inunderstanding what makes a very efficientcarbon cartridge are the following:

special cartridges
Polyphosphate cartridges have a lowpressure drop.Usually they are used in industrialapplications. Standard regulations requirethat only minimal dosage is allowed whenapplied to drinking water. Therefore, inthese cases, it is necessary to have anaccurate and controlled dosageguaranteed by a dosing pump (AQUA-Mini & AQUA-Dos, see our Dosing SystemsProduct Guide)It is important to fully understand theuse of such cartridges so as to determinethe correct application.
For applications and maintenance, pleaserefer to the data sheet indicated for eachmodel.
IDEAL APPLICATIONS ARE:Inlet of heaters, Inlet of washing machines.
RLA-CP line
AQUA Srl offers various polyphosphatecartridges that defer in sizes and withdefined characteristics.
Polyphosphate salts are anti-scalingchemical agents. Therefore ideal for usewith hard calcareous water, and whereeliminating of scale and corrosion isrequired.
A polyphosphate cartridge consists of aplastic canister filled with crystal salts ofdifferent mesh. The canisters can vary insize.
Once the polyphosphate salt has dissolveda chemical reaction takes placewithholding the suspended particles. Thisprevents scaling and depositing of theparticles along pipelines or insidemechanical components, avoidinginefficiency.
To be efficient, all polyphosphate cartridgerequire a determined time of watercontact. However, thanks to its fastdissolving effect this period is relativelyshort.

special cartridgesQU-ST line
AQUA can supply the following models ofSpecial Cartridges
QUARTZ CARTRIDGES;
The QU series are filtering cartridges madewith siliceous sand (quartz). Very fine grainsare used which are bonded together by aepoxy component very resistant to water.
The extremely compact mesh constructionguarantees a nominal filtration of 30microns with a filtering efficiency of 82%.
This is a mechanical filter and it is usedfor eliminating or reducing suspended solidparticles or when there is turbid water.
Quartz cartridges can be used several timesbut require a thorough clean from time totime. This can be done by submersing thecartridge into a 10% dilute solution ofhydrochloric acid for 4 to 10 hours andthen using compressed air on the surfacemaking sure the action is from external tointernal.
Because of its structure It is suggested notto use these cartridges excessively as the
SPECIALCARTRIDGES
filtered particles will become more difficultto remove and consequently pressure dropwill jeopardize the efficiency and growthof bacteria will accrue.
STERILIZING CARTRIDGES:
Antibacterial Ceramic Cartridges aremechanical cartridges and not biological.During the filtration they sterilize becausea special fossil flour of diatom is used. These cartridges are very porous with veryfine mesh that can filter very finesuspended particles. This means alsobacteria will be filtered.
It has to be clarified that these cartridgeswill act only as a barrier to bacteria downto a size of 0.5 micron.
Changing of these cartridges depends onthe working conditions. In any case wesuggest not to use such cartridge for morethan 12 months.

special cartridgesresin line
Cartridges with ionic exchange resin areused for eliminating ionic substance whichare present in water.
According to the type of filter media used, they can by applied for treating water withcalcium and magnesium, reducing thepresence of iron and obtain de-mineralizedwater.
All cartridges are assembled with a pre andpost filtration. This optimizes the efficiencyof the resin for water inbound andimproves the quality of the treated wateroutbound.
Similar to the GAC cartridges, the Pre &post filters are made of melt blown whichis of the same technology used for ourFR-N cartridges. This technologyguarantees a very efficient filtering action.
