County Recorder’s

Website.

Begin by navigating to:

You should end up at the page

shown on the next slide

Click “Land Records Search”

This will bring

you to the

page shown

on the next

First Search

through the older

records

(1837 to 1982)

by clicking

“Tract Books”

We will now go through an

example of researching a

section of land

Therefore you will

concentrate on the lower

half of the webpage as

shown on the next slide

Click through the choices at the bottom for

the township (Geneva), section

number, and quarter section you are

researching. Then click the first page in the

last column. This will immediately take you

to a track book page similar to the one

shown on the next slide

Let’s search first for the

grantor in the section of land

we are researching

We are looking for

The city of Geneva as

a grantor

And we are looking at

Section 3 Township

39 Range 8, the NE

quarter section

Once you have input your

search parameters, click

“Search” at the top of the

page.

This will take you to the

results of your search. The

page will be similar to that

on the next sheet.

Although you can see a lot of the

document info here, you can also

click the paperclip to bring up the

actual document. The URL to be

placed in the database is the URL

of the actual document.

You should also go back and follow

through these same steps looking

for the city as the grantee

Now we will search the newer

records (between the years

1982 and the present) for

records in a subdivision.

Go back to the “Advanced”

choice in the menu at the left.

This will bring you to a page

similar to that on the next slide

Let’s search first for the

grantor in the section of land

we are researching

We are looking for

The city of Geneva as

a grantee

And we are looking at

Westhaven

Subdivision

Note: to get the subdivision

code, see the next slide

To find the subdivision code to

be used as the search

parameter, click “Lookup

Subdivision Codes” under the

box where you input the code.

This brings up a window shown on the

next slide where you can search for your

subdivision and find the code

Once you have all your

search parameters in

place, click “Search” at the

top of the page. This will

bring up a page similar to

that shown on the next slide.
