This Addendum is hereby issued to inform you of the following revisions and or clarifications to the above-referenced ITB and/or the Contract Documents for the Project, to the extent they have been modified herein. Any conflict or inconsistency between this Addendum and the Solicitation Document or any previous addenda will be resolved in favor of this Addendum. Bids shall conform to this Addendum. Unless specifically changed by this Addendum, all other requirements, terms and conditions of the Solicitation Document and or Contract Documents, and any previous addenda, remain unchanged and can be modified only in writing by OSU. The following changes are hereby made: PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS: Item 1 Included with this addendum are the following items:
Attachment A: Additional attendee contact information Attachment B: Substitution request response Attachment C: Revisions to the plans and specifications as provided by Rowell Brokaw Architects dated 8/7/2020.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Item 2 Q: It appears there is conduit that runs parallel to and use to tie into the bus duct, is the
conduit also getting demoed? A: All conduit and wiring associated with equipment fed off bus duct shall be removed.
Item 3 Q: Are there record drawings for where all the wire that is sticking out of the floor is being fed from?
A: Record drawings shows previous equipment in those areas. Wiring is no longer in use. These are possibly fed from panels on west walls being demoed.
Item 4 Q: Partition gates - How many user keys and control keys will be needed?

A: Contractor to provide Best cores and the keys; cores to be uncombonated; each core to come with 2 keys; "L" key-way.
Item 5 Q: Partition gates - 2. Do they need to be keyed alike?
A: No. Keying will be: Anthropology gate - 005B-1; Library - (2) man-door gates and (1) slider gate - 005D-1, 005D-2, 005D-3 ; (1) Facilities Services Mechanical gate - 005C-1
Item 6 Q: Wire Mesh Partition fencing - 1. On A-110 Note2, it states that the height is 11’-6”. After
measurements for the ceiling beam to the floor I measured 12’. 11’-6” are special order and 12’ are regular sized panels. What height would you like?
A: 11'-6" to avoid conflict with spray foam insulation application. Item 7 Q: Wire Mesh Partition Fencing - If partitions are 11’6” or 12’ tall that leaves 18” from the beam to the
ceiling. Does that need to be enclosed as well? A: No. The OSU Library confirmed during design that the partitions do not need to extend into the 18" beam-to-ceiling pocket.
Item 8 Q: Sheet E101, Note #1 – The sheet note states to remove Bus Duct and Bus Duct Disconnects. There are
large homerun conduits and pull boxes fed from the bus duct disconnects. Should these conduits and pull boxes be removed as well? Reference attached Pic.01, Pic.02, and Pic.03
A: All conduit and wiring associated with equipment fed off bus duct shall be removed. Item 9 Q: Sheet E101 – The demo sheet does not call out or note removing existing wires coming out of the
Southwest floor. Please clarify if these wires are to be made safe, removed, and conduits cut flush with the floor and filled. Reference attached Pic.04 and Pic.05.
A: Existing floor wiring to be removed and conduits to be cut flushed with floor. Item 10 Q: Sheets E101, E111, E121, and A110 – These sheets show shelving located along Gridlines A/2.5 thru
A/3.5. There are (3) existing panels and (1) existing transformer mounted to the exterior wall (NOT SHOWN) along Gridline A/3 thru A/3.5 where new shelving is to be located. These are different panels and transformer from the ones shown along Gridline A/1.5 for Bid Alternate #1. Please clarify if these panels are to remain or be removed to accommodate the shelving. If they remain, there will be 36” clearance in front of the panels required per code. Reference attached Pic.06 and Pic.07.
A: Panelboards and transformer are no longer in use and shall be demolished. Item 11 Q: Are we demoing just the busduct, transformers and panels or are we demoing their feeder conduits
also? A: All equipment and feeders shall be demolished. Feeders to bus duct have already been removed.
Item 12 Q: If we are demoing the feeder conduits as well, where are they coming from? A: Feeders to bus duct have already been removed. Item 13 Q: What size are the busducts, panels and transformers that are being demolished? A: Bus ducts are 1600A. 480V panels are 400A and 120V panels are 225A. Item 14 Q: E101 notes 5, 6 &7 say to remove all electrical connections but it doesn't state where these items are
fed from. Are we removing conduit back to panel? Where are these panels located? A: Mechanical equipment is fed from Main distribution board and panelboards in main electrical room.
Item 15 Q: What manufacturer of switchboard is SDA 480/277 1200A? There are breakers in this switchboard that
have to be replaced and I need to know what manufacturer it is. A: Cutler Hammer

Item 16 Q: Are as-builts for the space available?
A: Yes, we have some archival information based on past projects in the building. Archival information can be made available to the successful bidder as necessary.
Item 17 Q: What are the working hours and noise requirements?
A: Work can occur during normal working hours. Work will be communicated to building managers and contacts and any special or unusual circumstances will be coordinated accordingly. This will also be the case for noise, shut downs, dust control measures, etc.
Item 18 Q: Will on site parking be permitted?
A: Allowed, yes; permitted no. We have access to the south end of the Research Way Building parking lot. OSU parking permits or space-out-of-service fees are not required in this off-campus parking lot location. As a courtesy, we need to communicate to other building users the amount of space we use, however. Overflow, if necessary, could happen across the street at the Research Way Lab Building.
Item 19 Q: Who is the building fire alarm contractor?
A: Assuming this is the contractor's sub. OSU Facilities doesn’t/won't contract this work out separately. They will manage/maintain the system after install however. Johnson Controls was the most recent fire alarm subcontractor to work in the building for the Marine and Geology Repository project.
Item 20 Q: Please confirm that existing furnishings in areas that work occurs for this project will be removed by
Owner. A: Some items remaining in the 'Library's boundary' are being removed by OSU Surplus Property. This will be done before the project starts. The rest of the items will remain. This space is storage for College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences and for Anthropology. Items in the storage facility can be shifted and should be protected from messy overhead work (and/or an option of some items temporarily moving to onsite secured accessible conex containers could be considered). There is no other place to store these departmental materials. This will be for the contractor to do in coordination with our user group representatives who have materials stored here. The drawing storage archive boxes in room 108 are not regularly accessed and can be moved within 109 to make room for the work at the south end.
Item 21 Q: Where will laydown be located?
A: The south end of the Research Way Building parking lot is available for a laydown area, dumpster location, etc. etc. As a courtesy, we need to communicate to other building users the amount of space we use, however.
Item 22 Q: Will space be provided for a jobsite trailer?
A: Yes, if necessary, a jobsite trailer can be located in the parking lot by the loading dock. There is an interior room off the dock area that can also be used as a jobsite office.
Item 23 Q: Will background checks and badging be required? If so, what is the time commitment and cost
associated? A: There is no badging or background check requirements. Adherence to OSU COVID-19 protocols and standard jobsite PPE is required as necessary.
Item 24 Q: Will phasing be required? If so, is there a desired phasing plan. A: There is not a phasing requirement, nor is phasing desired. Item 25 Q: Will contractors be required to pay a parking fee? If so, what will the fee be?

Item 26 Q: Please confirm that the Owner will retrieve and store salvaged items. A: Any items noted as salvage to owner will be retrieved by owner. Item 27 Q: Will the spaces that work will be occurring be occupied during construction?
A: No, this is designated storage space with no occupants doing regular work in it directly. People may need to access their stored materials periodically. We do have 2 research labs outside and adjacent to this space, however. (Rms 001 & 002). These labs are operating 24/7; they are very sensitive to dust as well as to vibration; instruments cannot be shutdown because of electrical outages; PLANNED shutdowns with advance notification will be required; generators may need to be utilized to keep them operational. One of these labs will have their mass-spectrometers relocated out of the building in an October/November time frame. It should be noted in addition, the unique collections above this storage space, in the OSU-MGR frozen core facility on the first floor, have refrigerated and frozen storage units. These cannot be jeopardized and go without power as they need to stay cooled/frozen.
Item 28 Q: Where will construction access be located?
A: Contractor will have access to and can use of the loading dock area, overhead doors, etc. Item 29 Q: Detail 9 on sheet A-601 notes mechanical unit pad extension and M131 notes to reference
architectural for pad, however the extents of the pad are note shown in the architectural plans. Please advise. A: 1/A-110 architectural plan revised to show mechanical unit pad. Dimensions to be verified with mechanical unit selection. See Addendum 2 documents.
Item 30 Q: Please provide details for the exterior fence post footings/mounting. A: Refer to specified reference standards for chainlink fence installation. Item 31 Q: Please provide elevations for the wire partitions.
A: Per Specification Section 10 2213, wire mesh partition elevations will be vendor-specific and are to be provided in shop drawings per manufacturer's standard frame and support configurations.
Item 32 Q: Please provide elevations for the wire partition footing/mounting.
A: Per Specification Section 10 2213, wire mesh partition details will be vendor-specific and are to be provided in shop drawings per manufacturer's standard details.
Item 33 Q: Keynote 2 on sheet E101 does not indicate demo, however the plan looks like they're to be removed.
Please clarify. A: These are to be removed. Equipment shown with dashed lines are to be demoed. See sheet E101 under General symbols.
Item 34 Q: Will the section of bus duct to remain require a new feeder connection to energize this section? A: No. Bus duct is not operational. Bus duct feeder has already been removed. Item 35 Q: There are no exit lights shown. Are exit lights not required in this area? Please advise. A: No new exit lights are included.

Item 36 Q: Sheet A-110 shows a new storage room 005B and mechanical room 005C. The electrical drawings don’t have any lighting or power shown in these room. The existing lighting is to be demolished in this area. Please advise.
A: See revised drawings for new layout. Item 37 Q: Sheet A-110 shows a new storage room 005B and mechanical room 005C. Will access control be
required on those gates/doors? A: Access control is not required for these gates. See door schedule and specifications for gate hardware requirements.
Item 38 Q: The location of electrical switchboard SDA is not shown. Please advise. A: SDA is shown in E121. Item 39 Q: Please advise which electrical panel is feeding the chiller, chiller tank, and exhaust fan that are to be
removed. A: Mechanical equipment is fed from Main distribution board and panelboards in main electrical room.

Models XD and XB are square in-line centrifugal fans designed
to eliminate costly round to square ductwork transitions with the
flexibility of any angle operation. XD is direct driven and XB is
belt driven. Model XD is available in five sizes with capacities

SECTION 01 1100
SUMMARY OF WORK
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY OF WORK
A. The Work Contract consists of partial renovation of the basement of the OSU Research
Way Building at 4700 Research Way, Corvallis, Oregon. The renovation includes but is
not limited to the demolition of existing abandoned MEP distribution, installation of
new HVAC equipment, spray-applied insulation, wire partitions, etc. to create a new
storage area for the Valley Library archive.
B. Work shall be started within ten (10) calendar days after signing of Contract on behalf
of Oregon State University. The Contract may not be signed prior to approval of the
Contractor's Certificate of Insurance by Construction Contract Administration (CCA),
Oregon State University. Work shall be completed within 270 calendar days of date of
executed Contract. The targeted final completion date is on or before May 30, 2021.
1.02 CONTRACTORS USE OF PREMISES
A. Contractor shall limit use of the Premises for work and storage to allow for:
1. Owner occupancy, day and night.
2. Public use, day and night.
3. Security.
4. Safe entry and exit for vehicles and pedestrians.
5. Fire egress.
B. Coordinate all operations with the Owner's Authorized Representative during the
construction period. A 96 hour notification is required prior to scheduled utility
shutdowns or street closures, but more lead time is often required to schedule around
other critical activities.
C. Limit Contractor's employee parking to locations designated at the Pre-construction
Conference.
1.03 OWNER OCCUPANCY
A. The Owner will occupy the Premises during the entire period of construction for the
conduct of normal operations. Cooperate with Owner's Authorized Representative in
construction operations to minimize conflict and to facilitate the Owner's usage
especially in the following areas:
1. Restricted access and parking.
2. Use of stairs.
3. Storage space availability.
B. The Owner will be utilizing a portion of the project area for active storage purposes for

the duration of construction. Contractor is to assume that the majority of storage
items will not be able to be relocated during construction and will need to be
protected accordingly. For items that must be relocated to facilitate construction
activities, Contractor to coordinate with Owner’s Authorized Representative to
facilitate temporary relocation.
C. Conduct operations in such a way to ensure the least inconvenience to the general
public, including:
1. Limitations and easements.
2. Emergency vehicle access.
3. Building access to the public, day and night.
D. Laboratories directly adjacent and partially included in the project boundary (Rooms
001, 002 and 003) contain sensitive research equipment that is in continuous
operation.
1. Electrical shutdowns that will impact this equipment will be prohibited.
2. Dust and debris will need to be managed such that there is no impact to the
equipment within these spaces.
3. Vibration from construction related tools and machinery will need to be tested
and coordinated with OSU staff to avoid impact to ongoing research. Specific
measures (such as the use of low-impact tools, etc.) to avoid vibrations at the
research equipment may be necessary.
4. Some of the equipment can also be affected by the use of nearby electric motors
and stray magnetic fields. Review of the proposed construction equipment and
proximities to the research equipment will be required prior to construction
activities.
E. The Marine and Geology Repository (MGR), located on the second floor of the
building, includes walk-in freezers that house irreplaceable ice core samples.
1. Although power to the freezers can be transferred to an existing backup
generator, close coordination will be necessary if electrical power to the MGR
facility may be affected by the project to guarantee the protection of the
collection.
1.04 ASBESTOS AND OTHER HAZARDOUS MATERIAL
A. The Owner has made a reasonable attempt to locate and identify asbestos or other
hazardous material that may be encountered during the course of the Work.
B. If the Contractor observes or suspects the existence of asbestos, polychlorinated
biphenyl (PCB) or other hazardous materials in the structure or components of the
building, the Contractor shall immediately stop work and notify the Owner’s
Authorized Representative.
C. The Owner will arrange for the removal of asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) or
other hazardous materials as required by Facilities Services personnel or by separate
contract.

D. Schedule ten (10) days of slack or "down" time for the removal of hazardous materials
without penalty to Owner for the delay of the Contract.
1.05 LEAD BASED PAINT
A. The Owner may have tested existing paint in the project area and if levels are found
the following conditions apply.
B. Contractor shall remove paint as specified for surface preparation and capture
removed material for disposal.
C. Contractor shall follow OSHA guidelines involving exposure to workers.
D. Owner will provide containers for Contractor’s use at project site.
E. Contractor shall comply with the requirements of DEQ and EPA and shall submit a lead
abatement plan.
F. Contractor shall separate lead contaminated material from effluent and water.
G. Owner will dispose of lead paint and effluent resulting from stripping operation.
H. Soil contaminated by stripping operations shall be replaced with topsoil.
