The VARD 9 105 is a Hydrographic Research Vessel designed for the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy. The two sister ships, HMS Echo and HMS Enterprise , were designed to carry out a wide range of oceanographic and hydrographic surveys, as well as collect bathymetric data from the ocean.
A unique feature of this design is how it utilizes azimuth thrusters, where the propellers are part of a swivelling pod, allowing for precise manouevring.
