Literature Review 1 (Nishida)

Nishida supports a proposal to the system of English education in elementary schools in Japan.

☆ Students should learn English while they are young☆Children can have motivation to communicate also in the

future, when they become adults☆ Basic Intepersonal Communication Skills (BICS) = ability for comm such as greetings and responses → build good relations

Literature Review 4 (Mizokami)Literature Review 2 (Hosoki) Literature Review 3 (Tozawa)

It is too hard for young students to acquire English skillsStudents might get wrong knowledge and skills if they are taught

by non-native speakers Introducing English courses does not cultivate communication

skills / deepen international understandingNative pronunciations are not so important International understandings ≠ learning English
