Research of horror film codes and conventions

Stock props: murder weapons (blades, chainsaws, baseball bats, hammers, mechanics). Sometimes phallic, also can be a symbol of the murderer e.g. Freddy Kruger and the finger blades.

Settings: isolated areas, farmyards, large houses, motels, highways, forest, graveyards, schools, campus.

Characters: group of friends, “pure” girl, last girl standing, first victim, hero, villain, monster, ghost, priest, mysterious character.

Themes: revenge, good vs. evil, light vs. dark, envy, lust love, zombie apocalypse, nightmares.
