This third issue of BUE Research Bulletin continues to bring to light research accomplishments of BUE community. It covers progress over the past ten months. The reader will find among the activities reported here endeavours in a new area. It is BUE innovation and technology transfer, which is now taking the front seat alongside research and teaching in meeting the university strategic objectives. The vibrant research community at BUE has added a significant number of publications, projects and funds during the reporting period, which held the university’s ranking within Egypt steadily at the top of private universities accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities. Research collaborations have extended to many national and international institutes. Several research grants are progressing in collaboration with the industry. These are key ingredients for a successful innovation and technology transfer mission. Two major projects are advancing BUE agenda in this direction; BUE Science & Innovation Park, and Technology, Innovation Commercialisation Office (TICO). Activities under these projects as well as more detailed reporting on the research elements summarised in this issue of the research bulletin can be found at the research portal of BUE website.BUE steady advancement in research and technology transfer would not have been possible without the support, incentives and rewarding offered by the university leadership. BUE community is grateful to Chairman Mohamed Farid Khamis, President Ahmed Hamad, and members of the Board of Trustees and the University Board for their enormous support and encouragement. I am thankful to colleagues who contributed to this issue of the Research Bulletin and to colleagues in BUE Research Administration Office for publishing of the bulletin in this fine form.

Painting Depicting "Galileo Demonstrating the New Astronomical Theories at the University of Padua", by Félix Parra, 1873. Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), known as "the Father of Modern Physics", was an Italian polymath, physicist, astronomer, engineer, mathematician and philosopher. He invented an improved telescope that allowed him observe and describe the phases of Venus, the rings of Saturn, sunspots, moons of Jupiter, and the rugged lunar surface. Due to his controversial championing for heliocentrism and copernicanism, he was forced by religious authorities to remain under house arrest for the rest of his life. During that time, he wrote one of his most famous books "Two New Sciences" on kinematics and strength of materials.
