ENERGY INNOVATION CONCEPT TO COMMERCIALIZATION RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
ULC Robotics provides product and service development and engineering services to the natural gas, energy, industrial and electric distribution markets that solve problems while reducing costs, increasing efficiency and improving safety. To meet the needs of these industries, ULC operates under three divisions capable of performing a wide range of specialized services.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Our project managers, engineers and technicians are the best in the field at performing innovation projects – from concept to prototype to field testing into commercialization. Commercialized solutions are then deployed under our Pipeline Robotics or Energy Services divisions.
PIPELINE ROBOTICS
Our technical field operations team specialize in the deployment, operation and field maintenance of complex robotic systems, inspection crawlers and camera systems - we collaborate with you to ensure innovation becomes business-as-usual.
ENERGY SERVICES
ULC’s highly trained crews perform field work daily involving no-dig, core and vac and keyhole processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. This division also performs turn-key meter exchanges, valve inspections and other technical services.RESEARCH AND

INNOVATION BASED IN REALITYOUR FOCUS FOR DELIVERING
REAL WORLD SOLUTIONS
Through our three divisions – Research & Development, Pipeline Robotics and Energy Services – ULC Robotics has gained extensive experience in the development and deployment of highly advanced technology to efficiently and reliably perform inspection, assessment and repair of assets.
From concepts to commercialization, these divisions seamlessly communicate to ensure the solutions we develop are realistic, dependable and efficient.
WORKING WITH ULC ROBOTICSCOLLABORATIVE APPROACH
TO INNOVATION
Because ULC Robotics collaborates with clients on innovation projects from concept to turn-key commercialization, our team is able to focus on the entire life-cycle of a product or service.
Once we deploy a solution commercially, we continuously look for ways to improve the technology and the efficiency of the operation through further research and development and partnership with our clients.

FIELD TESTING
Fully commercial-ized solutions may be deployed by our customers or passed onto our Pipeline Robotics or Energy Services divisions where they may be performed under a turn-key operation.
Designs and concepts are transformed into manufacturing documentation to enable real world, demonstrable field ready prototypes to be fabricated, assem-bled and tested.
Before moving for-ward with a specific concept, ideas can be proven through 3D modeling and analysis or through cost-effective man-ufacturing of select components.
Once prototype proj-ects are successfully shop tested, they are brought out in the field for testing in real-world environ-ments to look for additional ways to improve the reliabil-ity and usability of the innovation.
Our engineers focus on the design and robustness of key components to minimize the risk associated with per-forming innovation and also to minimize development time and costs.
In this introductory phase, the project is carefully defined and planned. Our R&D team learns as much as possible about the intended application while developing project requirements and specifications.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT FOR THE ENERGY INDUSTRY SOLVING CHALLENGES WITH INNOVATIVE IDEAS
From initial concept to full commercialization, ULC focuses on the research and development of products, services, updated processes and software for use in the natural gas, electric, renewable, steam and broader energy markets.
ULC Robotics has developed a range of custom camera and crawler inspection equipment that allows energy and utility networks to collect critical visual, sensor and measure-ment data from hard to access locations.
We will work closely with you to develop solutions to your unique challenges. We have developed a wide array of custom tooling for our clients – from hand tools, to fittings to no-blow entry systems.
Our team has taken outdated, resource-intensive processes and developed updated no-dig and core and vac methods to get the same work done in less time and with less disruption to the public.
Our company has developed unique robotic systems that perform complex, yet highly effective repair and mainte-nance from within live pipelines. These technologies get more work done in less time and with fewer resources.

User controls are one of the most important aspects to the successful deploy-ment of technology. ULC Robotics is able to develop controls to ensure highly precise and accurate controls of the equip-ment we design.
Developing devices which operate wire-lessly enables cutting edge technology and field services that are otherwise impos-sible or impractical to implement. Our team is also skilled in the development of locating equipment.
Sensors allow energy companies to gather critical information about their assets. Our team is able to develop new sensors or find new ways to utilize and deploy existing sensors for in-situ and non- destructive testing.
Our team is able to develop software ranging from custom-ized user interfaces, data display and controls for sensor systems to firmware for precise and accurate controls of motors, pneumatic systems, and more.
ULC Robotics em-ploys highly skilled electromechanical assemblers who are capable of complet-ing the build-out of prototype robotic systems, custom tooling and inspec-tion equipment to support innovation.
Our highly skilled Electrical Engineers are capable of designing custom schematics and in the fabrication and validation of custom printed circuit boards using carefully selected, high quality components.
