3D Printed PPE Mask Instructions One of the challenges health care providers are experiencing across the nation is a shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks. These devices are essential to keeping people safe during this crisis. First, let’s get the disclaimer out of the way: This mask design is NOT a replacement for N95 respirators. This model has not been approved by any regulatory agency. Use it at your own risk if you do not have any other protection. The recommended measures to protect yourself from infection with the coronavirus COVID-19 are the following: - Stay home and avoid contact with other people - Avoid touching your face with your hands - Wash your hands very often Note: This model only includes the mask structure (2 pieces) but does not include the required filter to eectively block the spread of the virus, see filter guidelines below. Also, additional measures could be required to properly fit the face without air gaps. Printing Instructions This design is a modification of the reusable and freely available parts files released by La Factoría 3D in Spain. The main dierence between this design and the original is the addition of clips to create an improved attachment of the filter cover and the mask. Additionally, this mask has a modified pocket for the inclusion of a teardrop shaped N95 Filter (see below). Download the .STL files online at the Resa website. SUGGESTED PRINT SETTINGS - Recommended infill: 0.25mm or 50% - Layer Height: 0.1mm - Material: TPU - Supports: None Scaling: 100% scale is recommended and is a universal size; scale to 90% or less for smaller masks Dierent printer models and settings create variation in mask production times; therefore, we are unable to provide further detailed specifications for settings.

First, let’s get the disclaimer out of the way:

This mask design is NOT a replacement for N95 respirators. This model has not been approved by any regulatory agency. Use it at your own risk if you do not have any other protection. The recommended measures to protect yourself from infection with the coronavirus COVID-19 are the following:- Stay home and avoid contact with other people - Avoid touching your face with your hands- Wash your hands very often

Note: This model only includes the mask structure (2 pieces) but does not include the required filter to effectively block the spread of the virus, see filter guidelines below. Also, additional measures could be required to properly fit the face without air gaps.

The main difference between this design and the original is the addition of clips to create an improved attachment of the filter cover and the mask. • Other Materials Our mask is designed to pair with some essential materials, including any of the several N95 filters

    Elastic Straps

Elastic cord, string, straps, rubber bands or any variation can also be used as ties. Below are the straps we include with our masks.

    N95 Mask Filters

According to a study performed at Cambridge University during the 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic1, while surgical masks perform the best at capturing Bacillus atrophaeus bacteria (0.93-1.25 microns) and Bacteriophage MS virus (0.023 microns), vacuum cleaner bags, and tea towels were not too far behind. The coronavirus is 0.1-0.2 microns, well within the range for the results of the tests.

Any of the above materials can be used as a filter by cutting them to match the included filter, or cut to fit the shape of the filter housing.

Extra Filters can be obtained from our website: http://www.resawear.com You may also inquire at commercial filtration companies, ie, : https://www.flowmarkhightech.com/

INSTALLING THE FILTER Place your chosen material on the inside of the mask filter box and fasten it by pushing the filter box and filter together into the mask base.

    Mask Usage and Care

Place the respirator on your face so that it rests on your nose and the bottom is under your chin. Pull the top strap over your head and position it high on the back of your head. Pull the bottom strap over your head and position it around the neck and below the ears. Tighten until a seal is formed.

THESE MASKS ARE REUSABLE, BUT YOU SHOULD NEVER SHARE WITH OTHERS

  • Clean your mask with soap and water and disinfect by cleansing with a 75% alcohol based wash when possible.  Depending upon the filament used when printing, you may sterilize the mask parts by placing the printed parts into boiling water.

Practice good hygiene by washing hands before and after changing filters and removing mask

Clean mask often and change filter often.
