The Presidential Address

Hello Members!

Wow…can you believe it’s June already?! We’re already near the halfway point of 2014. It’s amazing how fast time flies when you’re having fun and doing wonderful things for others! And that’s exactly what RESA’s been doing!

May was a fantastic and busy month for RESA! To start the month, we had 13 members attend the AWAG (American’s Working Around the Globe) Annual Conference in Garmisch on behalf of RESA. In addition, we also had members serve as speakers, conference assistants, on the Board of Governers and more at the conference. It was a fabulous time and all of us that attended brought back a wealth of knowledge that we can’t wait to share with RESA! For anyone who is interested in a leadership position in the future, I’d highly encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to attend AWAG’s local regional conference in the fall and the annual conference again next spring. You won’t be disappointed!

Our Bunco Social/Membership Drive was a blast! Weren’t the prizes beautiful?! We are happy to welcome our nine newest members to RESA! I hope you will fall in love with this organization and its mission as much as I have!

Also in May, we had the opportunity to present academic scholarships to 96 spouses and students in the KMC area! Over $115,000 was awarded to these scholars on behalf of RESA, ROSC and KLSA. It was absolutely incredible to see their faces light up with joy as their scholarship amounts were announced and awarded. It’s moments like that that we’re reminded just how important we are to our community so I’d like to personally thank you all, our wonderful members, who take the time to volunteer in our Thrift Shop. If it weren’t for your hard work and dedication, these scholarships would not have been made possible.

We got to finish the month out working one-on-one with those directly affected by having a loved one deployed. Our Deployment Buddies end-of-the-year picnic was a blast! The weather was beautiful and the students thoroughly enjoyed the food, games and company we were able to provide. The Deployed Families Event was also a success, so thank you to those that volunteered to assist!

Looking into the future, it doesn’t appear that we’ll be slowing down anytime soon, which is fabulous news if you ask me! We will start out June by cooking and serving a Southern BBQ style dinner at Club 7 on Ramstein. We will also be gearing up for our world famous Lemonade Stand that we’ll have out at the Rockin’ 4th event! And don’t forget to bring your best-dressed banana for June’s social! Check out the upcoming volunteer opportunities section and calendar for more information and to find out how you can get involved.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and warm month!

Sincerely,

Nicole

Introducing RESA's Newsletter Editor

Charinity Alicea arrived with her husband Brian and their three girls (Felicity-9, Emily-6,

Ryleigh-14m) to Ramstein February of this year for a four year tour. As a military brat, she was

born in Spain and spent most of her life living in South Georgia. Her family is from upstate New

York. She has a great sense of humor and loves to socialize. She loves to sing, dance and act silly. Charinity has an interest in graphic design and

learning random facts. People say Charinity makes the best sweet tea. "It's northern strong, and

southern sweet."

Individuals interested in advertising their home business or other items are welcome to do so in the RESA Hoot N Holler for a

nominal fee. Please contact the Newsletter Editor at [email protected] for details.
